Am I meant to be impressed?
No, I was hoping you might be helpful - this time with the Russian language - given your obvious closeness to the Kremlin.

A pity that some posters don't seem to understand what the word 'appreciation' means. Or what an appreciation thread is all about.

I don't think there's much to appreciate about a man with feck all respect for human life, domestically or abroad. I appreciate the fact that he loves propaganda including having pro-Putin spambots on various websites, there you go a little appreciation for Putin!:D

Liberals constantly whine and bitch about America. One man finally stands up to America, liberals whine and bitch about him. What do you people want??!

Maybe it's because he's an authoritarian ultra-conservative asshole.

Actually they are, by all accounts, not at all close to the Kremlin as they operate out of St Petersberg

Well I can well see the need for such grants, seeing as how Putin has had all the previous ones shot, poisoned, accidented or beaten to death.

The only thing in Putin's Russia with a shorter life expectancy than an independent journalist is an opposition politician.

People generally tend to not want war-mongering, homophobic, oppressive dictators by and large.

The Saudis seem to be staunch allies of western nations?

You may not have noticed that there were no "homophobia in Russia" stories in the media until the Sochi Olympics which of course were just before the Kiev coup. Why was this?

Gay rights in Russia are being exploited for propaganda purposes even though homosexuality is legal over the age of 16. Lithuania has an identical weird "anti propaganda" law as Russia but we hear absolutely nothing about it as they are EU and NATO members.
Typical hypocrisy from the morally bankrupt media!

Erm, I remember plenty of stories and human rights groups highlighting Russia's laws prior to Sochi. The honeytrap attacks etc have been cropping up for years... Then their so called propaganda laws.... Maybe you haven't followed the news? :D

The news? You mean what passes for news these days! :D
I certainly never heard of this ridiculous propaganda law before Sochi and the coup. Here's a very interesting story from the Guardian from about two weeks before the coup, (after the coup the Guardian inexplicably turned into the Telegraph) I don't think the author of this well balanced article is still writing for the Guardian?
The new legislation is certainly not, as US-based gay rights activists have claimed, "one of the most draconian anti-gay laws on the planet".

Amid the furore, it's easy to overlook some simple facts. Homosexuality in Russia – unlike more than 40 countries in the Commonwealth and 70 worldwide – is not illegal. To date, over six months since the law came into force, fewer than a dozen people have been fined for "gay propaganda". Not a single person has been jailed. Russian police do not have powers to detain people they suspect of simply being gay or lesbian, as a New York Times leader erroneously stated last year. If this were so, then how do we explain the fact that gay clubs are able to advertise and operate in Moscow and other big cities?

Here's an interesting example of how sensitive the Kremlin is to any kind of negative publicity.

On Monday, Irish director, Johnny O'Reilly, showed up on state-controlled telly in Russia yesterday to talk about his new film, Moscow Never Sleeps. During his intro, O'Reilly expressed solidarity with Oleg Sentsov, the Ukrainian filmmaker who was imprisoned last week on charges of "terrorism" for twenty years, after a Soviet-style show trial.

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/watch-irish-director-get-censored-819264

A minute or two after O'Reilly made his unscripted comments, "lifenews" - aka lienews - abandoned the interview and cut to the weather.

    Mostly opposition groups .
Isis seem to be happy in Iraq but they have forces in syria but they have not made any major pushes for more territory lately in syria

Opposition groups seems like a vague term. Wasn't it ISIS operatives who were filmed cutting out the heart of a Syrian soldier and eating it? Who are the opposition groups that you mention?

There's around 12 different armed opposition currently fighting against assad forces of varining strengths and sizes.
As I said Isis haven't made a major push in syria for about 12 months they pretty much use syria to hold and transfer supplies and equipment to Iraq .
Isis are mostly made of former Iraqis from Saddam era forces who want revenge for been ousted by the Americans ,
there leadership actually came from one American Prison camp .

Well according to Wikipedia, ISIS are instrumental in fighting in both Iraq and Syria:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State_of_Iraq_and_the_Levant

So what is it? You seem to know more about fighters who are in conflict with the government in Damascus. From what I can see ISIS are battling the government in Baghdad and the government in Damascus. Can you provide any information about these 12 different groups? Who are they? What is their agenda? And what are their differences?
