Isn't interesting that Putin's cheerleaders just drive-by post his propaganda and don't engage with any dissenting posts?

It is not in Europe's interest to be pushing around Putin given that he is a powerful world leader and loved by many Russians. The opposition in Russia is very weak by comparison coming over to European cities and trying to grab headlines attacking Putin personally. Most Slavic countries would actually agree with Putin's policy in regard to law and order and America staying out of European affairs. Russia is not about to invade Poland or Latvia or Finland, total hyperbole in order to grease the wheels of the militarists. Russia helps the world in terms of combatting piracy and Jihadism

It's also not in their interest to roll over. Putin has been the one pushing. He invaded Ukraine. He's clamped down on opposition. He closed down papers which weren't pro him. He assassinated someone in London. He hacked other countries.

I'm not saying that a war should be started but we shouldn't be cosying up to a cnut like that.

So there was potential attempted coup in Serbia by russian nationalists. There was also an assassination plot by criminal gangs that they think may be associated.

    The guardian reported on it.
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/11/serbia-deports-russians-suspected-of-plotting-montenegro-coup

When the Guardian asked Russian Intelligence services for a comment...
In Moscow, the Russian foreign ministry took a dim view of this Guardian report on the Balkan events.

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry wrote on Facebook: “The publication in the Guardian with a link to ‘sources’ saying that Patrushev apologised for ‘Russian nationalists’ who had planned to kill the prime minister of Montenegro is a classic provocation aimed at spreading knowingly false information.”

“I declare you “liars of the day”. You can sew your own hat.”

Putin is without doubt the most powerful man in the world .I could see a Russian backlash coming for at least 10 years.Nato pushing closer and closer to surrounding Russia.oh let's put a massive military buildup on Russia's border and threaten a missile shield pointing it's way and constantly criticize in western media, what could possibly go wrong

i do like putin's exchanges with the press on RT (they are on youtube)

assuming the translations are correct it gives a good insight into what he thinks and russias policy.
certainly adds more depth than what is stated in western media.

You fail at the most basic understanding of geography or understanding of what a shield is.

Putin reminds the world of the danger it faces when America builds these "defense" systems.

I'm so glad that Hillary didn't get in! with all of her recent irresponsible military threats to Russia

You and Putin should have been comedians.

Which of the two do you find most threatening:

(A)........Your neighbour adds a turret to their house with a 20mm canon in it pointed at yours. (Nukes in Kaliningrad)

(B).......Your neighbour just installed high-security grills on all the windows. (Missile defense shield)

It's understandable as that's what happens publicly in Russia - there's no public debate, no public dissent - just endlessly-repeated soundbites providing all the depth of a glass of water spilled on sand.

Can you imagine the panic in the Kremlin if the population started to think for itself in public?

Watch this youtube video and note the Voice of America correspondent at 1.21 say "WE have tens of thousands of protesters ...." "WE" !! :pac:
Also note the woman, a chess teacher just after him trying to remember her lines!
I did a little research and apparently Medvedev received more than 32 million votes and the second placed candidate from the Communists received over 14 million. Very impressive rigging of an election!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjEJuKHn7Xo

The flag of Tsarist Imperial Russia seems to be very much in evidence on the protests, democracy eh?

"We have tens of thousands of people come out and demonstrate about last Sunday's elections " is exactly what he said

Like when someone says we have a thousand people here .

You would honestly think you found some secret code

..... Hang on, I think the main issue here is that the """defense"""" missiles in the missile defense shield are still, well, missiles.

Furthermore, lots of military equipment becomes free to move with reduced fear of retaliation. Putin is right to fear an American led "intervention". He's put the U.S dollar under direct threat by dumping it and accepting other currencies for for Russian oil while basing it on the Rouble, just like Saddam Hussein did, and we all know how well that ended for him...

Not only that, Russia is gearing up to nationalise their banks, wrenching control of the Rouble away from western interests.
He's basically guaranteeing a massive war. The last time someone tried to mess with Anglo/American banks, 90 million people payed the price.

Russia has it's own ground to air missiles that do exactly what the thales system does its not like there nuclear weapons

The United States has nuclear weapons in Romania, a good countermeasure would be for Russia to place nukes in Cuba to even the balance, fair is fair.

Have you ever heard of submarine launched ICBMs?

    Yes, why?

It doesn't matter that the defense system uses missiles, they are still incapable of striking ground targets in Russia and they don't have nuclear warheads.

They are not an offensive weapon no matter how much illogic you try and apply.

Russia isn't threatening the US dollar and the US don't care what currency Russia uses to sell its oil and energy.

Russian banks are not in the hands of the US, they are in the hands of Russians. Please explain exactly how you think the rouble is controlled by 'western interests' at the moment.

Who is guaranteeing a massive war and what nonsense are you talking about 90 million killed in a war over banks? This isn't supposed to be a conspiracy thread.

    Yes, why?

Because they rather make it a bit pointless to fake concern over nukes moved from turkey to Bulgaria as if somehow they pose some great unique threat nuclear missile carrying submarines don't already.

    I said Romania not Bulgaria.
Well if nuclear missiles are in Romania and theres nothing for anybody to worry about, would the United States have a problem with Russia just storing a few nukes in Cuba, seeing as it wouldn't be any more of a threat than already exists.
