Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was just thinking this could be a good idea... inspired by this post
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=94353070&postcount=3868 .... seeing the likes of Totti and Cantona when they were just starting out was pretty interesting
So feel free to post pictures and videos of players and famous moments in times gone by.

Surely you haven't forgotten giggs already?

Brazilian boner bringer Pele might be a tad annoyed too.

As long as there's been football, there's been wonder kids

    Great idea for a thread!

World Cup 94 was when my love for football began. I was 6/7 and I watched every match I could. Still remember a lot of it. Here are some of the more iconic moments/players:

When i was a wee nipper I had never seen a black man (im clearly older than all of you).

    012751.jpg

When me da used to bring me I was amazed that we had a black man playing, to me he was the best player on the pitch and it wasnt even close. Touch, control, vision he had everything. He was un ****ing real.

Abuse he got was disgusting kinda set me in my ways of "you cant hate someone you dont know" type of thing.

Anyhoo I was there when that photo was taken and Paul Mc Grath is my fcukin hero and I have that jersey he wore that day :D

A lot more modern than the 80s, but it was kinda the same in the 00s (minus that level of abuse you mentioned) when City signed Michael Nwankwo. Always thought that the kinda players with the fancy celebrations would be a bit too exotic for the League of Ireland and were the preserve of the big money teams. It was the same kinda reaction when you were young and heard a Brazilian was on trial with your team. You always thought, solely because of his nationality, that he was going to be like Pele or Ronaldo.

Nwankwo wasn't long with City, but he'll always be a cult hero for this celebration (against Pats, actually):
