Ran the majority of the second half this morning, glad I did because there are a few sneaky pulls up from Tramore rd to the Lough and then of course model farm road.

It's really short snappy strides this week and brown rice :D

This time next week it'll be post race, probably post race beers (unless things get a bit carried away) and pre hot bath. I'm having a few doubts about the predicted after all the beer, wine and chocolate I had on Saturday. Do people usually give up alcohol leading up to a race or does it make much difference with a week to go. I'll stay off it this weekend alright. :(

Just take it easy. But if you give up all completely of a sudden the body might be a bit pi$$ed off with ya.

I give it up 18 weeks before hand bar the odd sneaky glass or jar

I think I'd have to be guaranteed a place in rio to stay off it for 18 weeks. ;)

Personally wouldn't give it up totally but wouldn't drink very much for sure.

If anyone is around Cork for the w/end check out the Cork Harbour Festival as it's pretty good. Will be a great atmosphere on the docks for the Ocean to City rowing race on Sat, I've a few friends rowing curraghs in it.

Can someone add me to the marathon table:

    quinlivan
    PB: 3.51 Goal: 3.59

Nervous and excited for it now :) Its been at the back of my mind for the past few weeks (I've been training away but not really thinking about it). Ran Tralee back in March in 4.01 so if I can come in under 4 I'll be delighted :D

Bit late with this - course info, on Cork Athletics - Cork County Board AAI website, along with some advice - looks like quite a few people asking for some. so far.

Route Maps & Elevation Profiles for each individual relay leg of the Marathon, in total, making up the full distance.

    Also links to advice for:
    The Final Two weeks
    On the Day
and, finally, Afterwards - The Recovery Phase:

Speaking of which, where is good for post-race pints? Is there a Cork equivalent of McGrattan's? :pac:

I don't know if it compares to McGrattans but Sober Lane is a great pub with nice food. Its near the finish line. Or the Woodford is nearer again. There is Soho too but thats a bit preppy for my tastes!

Weather forecast not looking amazing now though i'd prefer a bit of rain to too much sunshine.

I'll be heading back to city hall after the race to get my bag and change of gear so I'm thinking of The Sextant which is close by. I think they might do a BBQ and importantly the toilet is downstairs.

Not doing Cork this year and (slightly) envious of those who are - best of luck to all on Monday

Anyone hear anything about pacers? Nothing on the website yet.

Presumably all the major 15min finishing times will be covered.

I'm doing the half on Monday hoping for around 2 10. My last race in Cork city was 31 years ago. I remember it well National Marathon 1984. I was going a bit better that time

Weather looks cool with light showers which is perfect, but wind could be a problem.

I ran too much last week :( (don't ask) so very short taper for me.
