As far as I know the 242t 330 2/300's are limited to the CF6 engine...(open to being dissed here) AL operate currently using the E1A2 eng model. It would suit AL IMO to go for the 242t model for operational reasons and residuals as the GE eng in its final guise in the CF6 is the E1A3 with a little more "bump thrust" which might make a 300 load with freight eminently doable off rwys 10/28.....a wet day with low hPa pressure though will kill payload I'd say. All very interesting what they get. Lengthening dublins runway now is so over due .

Can those EI orders be turned into 242s? Of they wanted them?

This has probably been brought up already, but have the Virgin Little Red aircraft been painted back into the AL livery or are they still flying around in the virgin livery?

Nope. They were repainted within a week or two of returning to EI service....

I was on one from LHR about 3 weeks ago, and while in EI livery on the outside, it still had the Virgin seats (brown leather), with audio arm rests.

Saw both EI-CPG/H parked outside hanger 6 today, any reason why they were sitting there idle? Checked flightradar and seems they're back in the skies

There is usually a couple of aircraft on the ground in the winter. The a321s in particular have slightly lower flying hours in the winter on average than the A320s. I guess its a way of keeping the load factor high during quieter periods.

Most airlines rotate all their planes through the schedule though to keep maintenance down. There are certain tasks that have to be done if you are not flying the plane, and the amount of work increases the longer it doesn't fly. Better to have a plane on the ground for a few hours rather than a few days for that reason.

Flying them regularly also keeps them more reliable it seems. Aircraft can be very temperamental when they go back into service after long term storage.

Any word on when EI will rejoin Oneworld? Half expecting to see one of the new A330's being delivered in One World livery if EI join soon enough!

When EI get the A350s (if they do get them), what would the range be for them?

In a hypothetical situation would they be able to do a direct flight from Dublin to Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo?

    Check this link

There's a range for the aircraft in there

I spotted out of the corner of my eye on Tuesday night A319 EI-EPR arrive at Shannon for painting to Vueling colours

Was wondering what the story was with them was on one from Amsterdam on Tuesday

It is believed two more ATRs are being aquired by Stobart for EIR operations...

Brand new. Must have converted the options they had without making it public.

Nope, ATR are their own manufacturer by the looks of things, here's the Wiki page : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATR_(aircraft_manufacturer)

But they are part of the Airbus group.

JV Between Airbus and Alenia of Italy although nominally independent.

The lack of the ATR92 after many years (two decades nearly!) of discussion demonstrates the "nominally" bit.

The two different ATR92 proposals have been for a ~100 seater prop or a ~110 seater regional jet on the same fuselage; both of which could cause serious damage to shorthaul jet purchases.

So what call sign do they use when talking to ATC, Shamrock or a Stobart call sign?
