First Tractor Lawnmower.

Hi All,

I’m in the market for my first lawn mower and hence don’t really have anything to compare against.
I’ve about 1 acre of lawn to cut that is all pretty flat. I want something big enough that will cut it fast and it must collect the grass. Would a 42” deck and 17hp be enough for this? I’ll be buying straight and I’m budgeting around €3,000. Any brand recommendations? Or are they all much the same??

Castelgarden, Stiga or Honda are all good solid picks with reliable engines. The Mountfield range mainly has their own engine which wouldn't be as popular.

The Castelgarden XT190HD is a good lawnmower but will cost 180 over your budget. Im my opinion you'd be better going for this over the cheaper 40" Castelgarden PTX170HD as you get a bigger engine with an oil pump and bigger grass collector.

Just to update – I have a deal done for a Husqvarna CTH184T tractor mower for €3,300.
Hopefully I’ll be happy with the purchase! Cheers.
