Weather forecast not good for the Brisbane match

Gayle's been awfully quite of late..... Can he do a McCullum tomorrow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

    100% chance of rain !!!

    http://www.cricket.com.au/news/brisbane-weather-australia-bangladesh-gabba-match-details-live-updates/2015-02-20

The Bangers will be grateful for the point I reckon.... Will make England's task of making the QF even more difficult

I think I'd almost be pleased if England didn't make it.

It is madness there are no spare days and no reason the game couldn't be carried onto different day and have couple of games played on same day. They seem to have enough space in between each teams games, but the ICC are run by super intelligent human beings so they presumably know best.

Not looking good for the Aussie game later judging by the rain in that interview earlier

Bad drop there. Smith gets out of jail

Gayle out next ball. Just 4 for him

Gayle would have no complaints if he was dropped,a wretched ODI player in the last few years.

    Its brutal isn't it?

I think he is a cert to retire after this world cup, even if he was to somehow regain form. The next West Indies series is vs England, same time as the IPL.

Think that can be said about a few in the team, and probably a few on their board too. Totally dysfunctional organisation.

Both openers gone before the windies hit 30. Grim times for them.

Skying a lot of shots here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,799 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

We want a Windies loss here right?

Irfan bowling chest height nearly every ball. They're not adapting well.

Yep. Best that windies lose here. Important that SA and India win against these 2 also (India having already beaten Pakistan obv).

More important that we beat UAE and Zimbabwe though of course...

Not out. Lifesaver for WI. Have to feel it would have been curtains if they lost another there

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

Good decision. The noise was the bat brushing the pads.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

Short ball again causing the Windies problems.

Both teams must play a minimum of 20 overs. This may be relevant in Brisbane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

WI have recovered well here, all set up for a massive last 10 overs from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Decent over there, 15. Be terrible to see them win this

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

    Ouch

West Indies look set to post a decent total here 216-4, after 42 overs.
But Pakistan are still favourites for me. I'm not convinced WI bowling will be up to scratch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

221-4 after 44 looking much better now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,799 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

This is a hilariously inept fielding performance from Pakistan.

Good thing is, if WI win here 3rd AND 4th spot become wide open

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

    Russell has some power.

310-6 decent effort there by WI in the end

2015 and Younis Khan is playing ODI cricket? LOL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,175 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Sooooooooooooo bad from Pakistan, up to Misbah and Umar as usual to get some sort of respectability on the scoreboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭Dan man

    Pakistan 1-4..... absolutely shocking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭Dan man

1 run scored after more than 4 overs now. Woeful isn't the word.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,175 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

This will probably mean along with having to beat UAE and Zimbabwe we may have to beat one of Pakistan, India and South Africa.:(

Well if Pakistan are to lose, better they lose heavily and that their NRR takes a big hit.

Agreed. If they get Misbah cheaply they could fold for 130 or so, Masqood and Umar are dangerous but will give chances.

Don't know whether to hope for a bit of magic from Misbah or for his wicket to come quickly

I dunno either, he is probably the most likeable player in the team as well which complicates things and I want to see a close finish for the first time since it started, but Pakistan need to be in tatters before we play them....:P

    I'l have a cuppa and ponder it.:P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭Dan man

We need ponder no longer. What a debacle for Pakistan. The quicker they fold now the better it'll be for us.

Umar Akmal has moaned before he doesn't get enough overs to bat, 25/5 after 10 overs chasing 309, best of luck young man.:D

Also for the most part parody accounts are tedious, but the Jamshed one is decent enough.

No need to worry about run rates , other results etc

Pakistan are an absolute shambles..... WI redeemed themselves a bit today but it was after all only Pakistan they beat...... India and SA not terribly convincing either

If they keep their heads I'll be more surprised if Ireland don't finish at least 3rd in this group

Meanwhile it's raining in Brisbane. 45 mins before a decision on cancelation.

What a great start to the weekend, great performance from Windies.

Although it's great to see the Windies getting back into the competition, that does make it more difficult for Ireland. Their final match in the group stages is against Pakistan and it's now more likely that both teams will need a victory (maybe some of us could be practicsing our rain dancing!)

Pakistan are a shambles. They showed it against India and they have showed it against West Indies too. We definitely shouldn't be fearing them. If we get the wins against Zimbabwe and UAE and put up at least a fight against South Africa and India then we'd be well set for the last match against Pakistan. I can see SA absolutely destroying Pakistan the way they are playing, which helps us with regards to NRR.

WI are the team that could grow into this tournament. Openers need to produce more and of course Samuels but that lower middle order is insane. Good win like this could be all they need.

Any news on Bravo's hamstring injury? Could be a bit of a blow if he's ruled out of the rest of the qualifiers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Gillespy

He's to miss the next two games at least, could be back to face the Indians.
