Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not Salzburg, there is a pretty big clue in the photo if you look towards the right hand side of the picture. 🔥

It's not Innsbruck but you're on the right track. Mainland Europe.

Personally I think the architect and more so the ones who paid for it should have been shot.

I think it is Albertville skating centre and over on right is Olympic torch thingy me bobs used in 1992.

Me thinks that Olympics didn't cost as much as the Russia one or if so they left it all with steel fabricator. :D

Here is seen the bobslej trac of Latvia in Sigulda.

My only clue was the discussion of winter Olympics sites and then I started to ask myself, why would they build a monorail out of the top of a grain elevator?

Luckily the wikipedia list of European bobsled tracks included this one and from the scenery it was the most likely of the lot (flat land).

Will post something in a few minutes, anyway it's 0400 there so the two posts can be combined I suppose.

The new picture ... as I am only around briefly, anyone who is sure could post one up. I'll try to check in towards end of Friday to see if this was solved.

The view is towards the west southwest.

Excellent.
Yep the previous summer pic of winter sport location put me in mind of this bobsleigh track in Latvia.
I thought someone would have guessed it was bobsleigh and then it is just case of narrowing them down.

And you are right there are no mountains anywhere near, just a few hills and lots of forests.
I can see where you are coming from about the grain elevator.
Just remember the soviet architecture was substance and funciton over style.

Close enough, the church building to the right is Hôtel National des Invalides, Paris, which is the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte.
