    It is place called Achnaha

On the road to Sanna, looking Northwesterly direction.
The road doesn't even have number and it branches off the road B8007.

    What is the feature ????
Is it the extinct volcano which I can't make out ?

Give us a wee while to put one up.

    Correct.

The feature is the Ardnamurchan volcano. It's pretty difficult to make out from road level but the ridges you can see are a volcano crater that you can drive through. Much clearer from the air.

I did say it was a wee bit vague. Apologies if it was too vague.

    Cool spot.

You could actually put that aerial pic up and some one would be guessing Pacific island.

BTW that is interesting slant, can we put up aerial photos rather than street map pics ?

    Anyway here is next one.

    No volcanoes I am afraid.

Should neither confirm nor deny country this early as it is I hope easier than Tickle's last one, but I think most people have come to the conclusion it is Scotland.
    Not Loch Lomond.

    No.

    Nope.
No distillery although I did spend some time there drinking single malts.
And way too much Captain Morgans.

Well it is a place in Ireland.
The place in pic has another connection to Ireland, not the same name as somewhere in Ireland.
You were not so far away with one of your earlier guesses.

Scotland was never a place I really paid much attention to, I never realised it had so many lakes and rivers.

Scotland, especially the highlands, is a fantastic place.
I actually think it is far more beautiful than Ireland with the same type of weather.
The place is full of water.
Actually this village used to have a special water based activity and that is why I was there.
I feel like I've been there so I'm basically just going through every town/village I've been in :D

That isn't a always good idea as I discovered in the pic from Burgundy a while back.
I kept trying to find the town that had similar street where I had to kick my heels waiting for missus.
Turned out town I had in mind was Cognac.

That is the Drummond Hotel in St. Fillans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,186 ✭✭✭✭jmayo

I was hoping after all your effort you would get it.

Yep St Fillans at the end of Loch Earn.

The Irish connection is Saint Fillan, as in Irish monks who used to visit Scotland long long ago.

Opposite the hotel is a jetty and back a decade ago or less a floatplane used to be moored at it.
Caledonian Seaplanes used to operate from there.

Lovely place, only issue were all the midgets that came out in the evening especially if it was damp.
Feckers would bite you like anything and you couldn't have a drink in peace.

BTW have your ever been there ?

I have not been there. The highlands are riddled with those kinds of buildings and scenery. I guess it just looked very similar. I have been to Killin and pretty much all the other places I guessed though.

There is a rugby post in the far right of the picture if you zoom in. I figured it might be something to do with the world cup coming up.

Someone else can take my turn, just wanted to FINALLY get one right!

I thought of rugby too since the field outside the stadium appeared to be rugby-oriented. But I had only looked at the three large national stadiums in Britain and none of them had much open space around them. Then I saw this which saved me a lot of angst.
