New Event Company Takes Over St Patricks Day in Limerick

Glad to see that the City Council has finally put the running of the event of St Patricks Day in Limerick out to tender and a Galway company has won the tender. http://grooveyard.ie/

I always felt the local company Futurama, who always got every City council event never added much to anything they ran.

Limerick's parade has been nothing short of a disgrace for the past number of years, completely prioritised quantity over quality and as a result it was terribly boring, hopefully this will be a new departure.

Went out to see the band parade last year. Great time seeing all the different groups.

Left the Paddies parade after five minutes. If I wanted to see taxi after taxi I'd go home to the village parade.

It sounds good so far anyway. Hopefully there will be more "festivities" surrounding the weekend other than the parade. They should try to bring so events into the city for the weekend such as the French Market, some fun fair activities and such.

Why not even organise a family tree lineage type stand to be there so people can trace where their ancestors may have originated exactly or where their families may have gone to?
