I dont remember the two of them ever playing together. We usually have one proper fullback. It looks like they will play on either side.

Moreno has played a lot lately, goes to show what he thinks of Johnson aswell.

Looks like Rodgers is taking the Europa very seriously which is excellent news IMO.

Markovic has played left before. Ibe has played right before. You may be right that they've never played together, but when Moreno plays this role he plays it in a similar fashion to the other two.

The role is to cover the entire side of the right or left pitch. It's not really a defensive or attacking role, you have to be adept at both, but you have cover with the 3 centre-backs and a solid enough base of the two centre-mids so it's more about getting your body back there for numbers.

It's a much more attacking-dependent role than say Henderson or Allen's despite them being classed as midfielders, so I wouldn't really think of Ibe/Markovic as full-backs/defenders

It's a role predominantly about pace. I don't worry hugely that a player playing this role doesn't have exceptional defensive skills. Pace and stamina are what are needed first and foremost in this role

EDIT: I am much more comfortable with these two lads playing than Enrique or Johnson (more typical full-backs/wing-backs). Ibe and Markovic are more suited to this role because of their pace which imo goes to show it's not really much of a full-back role at all

Just putting this here so I can get my head round it.

Ibe played on the left for Derby but I'll assume on the right here.

Liverpool beat them there last year by playing long ball over the top for them to run onto so Rodgers obviously hoping to try it again and getting the same result

Technically a better prize as you go straight into the groups if you win the europa league (barring unlikely circumstances).

Nervous about this game, doesn’t help that I'm in an airport so at best I'll get a dodgy stream on my phone. It might be twitter update mixed with here for me though for the most part.
