Just can't see City dropping eight more points in what they have left.

Assuming we lose at Stamford Bridge and accounting for GD.

That's our already minute chance of fourth gone imo.

Its not, city are in turmoil there points return in 2015 is shocking. If we can win 6 of our last 7 I think we can finish ahead of them. They look ripe to keep dropping points.

We win tomorrow we are within 4. If City draw one and we win one we are within 1.
No need for City to fall apart, a simple draw by them can open door.

it would have been better for us if man u had lost - they've tougher fixtures left and despite a load of hooplah after their last few results they're still not that good at all

citeh have four of their last six at home and have a handy run-in

Heading over to the game tomorrow, very much seems like we will have something to play for :)

Lil cheaky bid for Van Persie would be good in the summer.

All these glimmers of hope I'm seeing. It's the hope that kills you.

United have the tougher fixtures on the run in but City have been playing very poorly. Not much of a chance but I wouldn't count it out just yet.

Losing to Utd made it unlikely to catch them.

Also they are in form and could do well in their run in.

City look to be in tatters and we could chase them down so I think the Utd win is a better result for us as much as I enjoy them losing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭jcsoulinger

Think city will go away and regroup after this shocker,,, then come back and but the wins together to consolidate 4th,, too much quality in that team and remaining games are all very winnable.

    What is this?
What is a little cheeky bid?

Utd will never sell to Liverpool anyway.

I need to look at table. I was sure they were on 60 pts!
O well, then within 2 . A draw can open door.

Not sure. No one has tried of late.
Worth a try, his contract up in 2016 and in reality it's only few months of playing time left in contract.

Folks top 4 has been settled its just in what order

Liverpool will not catch Man City with just a few games left

Anyways had a peak at the match thread and United are beating their local rivals and still talking about Liverpool, almost as small time as the guy today at the QPR V Chelsea game wearing a PSG top.

5 million. Fair for a player of that age.
Has 2.5 years of top football left in him.

The thing with city at the minute is not so much that they are losing games, it's more the fact that they don't look bothered. Their form in 2015 is muck compared to ours, even with the recent games our ppg in 2015 is level with utd

I'm not sure if we can catch them, our goal difference is killing us.

City do have a favourable fixture list but do have to go to Spurs. The problem at the moment with city is that they honestly don't look bothered and haven't for some time.

Can we get a good enough run in place and score enough to catch them, I'm not sure but they are not in a good place to be honest.

All about form. We are in great form, two defeats have knocked our confidence, but we are a team while they are falling apart.

June! Its a late finish this year.

As I said earlier City are in danger of coasting to a halt. Todays demolition esp having opened the scoring will add to the FUD that is now inside their collective head. Vital Liverpool win tomorrow obviously x2.

That's news to me - god help us if we start to play poorly

Folks top 4 has been settled its just in what order

It'll probably end up being something irritating like a 4 point gap on the final day, so we have nothing to play for.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,755 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Liverpool lost to United and Arsenal, it is no shame, these two clubs are currently the best in the league.

Liverpool have to believe 4th is still achievable, starting from tomorrow night with a win and then just 4 points to a team in freefall.

Ya we are not in good form. We haven't played well in a good while, even when we were winning games. We should have enough to beat Newcastle tomorrow night and as said above, all we can do is aim to get as many points as we can. I don't think we'll come close to 4th but while it's still possible we should keep trying obviously.

City's poor form has given us a glimmer.

Don't think we'l get 4th but we've got to play as if it's on. One weekend were we win and they draw or lose then it's very much on.

We're obviously a long shot but while any hope remains that result was best for us I think,(I'll wash my mouth out after).
Taking everything into account it's City I'd prefer to be chasing down, the absolute state of them the last couple of months. As said above Southampton might fancy it, they have to play them last day of the season.
In saying all of that you'd still expect City to get the points required.

You seem fascinated by Southampton for some reason, every time they win a game you comment about them not falling away.

Southampton have the 'advantage' of still having to play them.

We have the advantage of a game in hand on the Saints.

My God if Soton finish 5th and Liverpool 6th we'll have no choice but to buy more of their players demand a refund for the players bought off them.

I would gladly give them back Lallana, Lambert and Lovern for our £50 Million back. Just think about that 50 million for those... I like lallana but not at that price. He cost more than suarez, torres, alonso and masherano :(:(

Disagree, he's not even the player he was 2 years ago. United getting rid for a reason, his legs are gone.

The tv deals have meant that comparing prices for players brought in 4,8,11 and 8 years ago aren't really relevant.

I think Lallana was playing within himself this season, settling in and all that. I think he could be a big player for us next season

or else we bought nothing more than a decent player for €25million, when a superior player could have been bought on the continent for a fraction of that

Spurs are in free fall and Soton can't beat any team in and around them!

5th is well within are sights! Saying that we need Southampton and Spurs to still hang onto the hope that they can catch City - as they both have to play them! Need Southampton to hang onto us for as long as possible

In that Times interview with Sterling he say he wants his own song from the Kop.

"Of course, when the crowd is with you, there is nothing better,"

"My ambition is to have my own song from the Kop," he confessed.
"Last season I loved the song for Luis Suarez - Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho have good ones too."

I think I read their best case is that they'd win it Vs us at the Bridge sadly.

They can't wrap it before that.

Why? 4th is gone. Liverpool need to find a new Torres/Suarez and a new Gerrard in the bargain basement to avoid scrapping it out with Spurs for 5th place next season and beyond.

I'm sorry, is the season over? How did City fare in their last 7 fixtures?
