Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    No its not.
Sakho and Skrtel also looked Sunday league at the start of this season and once Gerrard was injured/dropped their form turned around.

No, once sakho returned to defence after injury, the form turned for the better.

Johnson actually looks more comfortable than moreno.

3 central defenders and they nearly score from a header from ball played up through the middle. Dodgy.

We've only got two Central defenders... And tbh lovern barely counts.

Id love to sell on Lovren. The club has to admit it made a mistake in him.... like with Andy Carroll.

That makes no sense at all. If Gerrard or any other midfielder is playing bad then the defense needs to be on top of their game. It's like blaming Mignolet for playing crap because Lovren is playing crap.

Come back when you have a clue about football and the role of a defensive midfielder.

No wonder Sterling is pissed about wages when he sees players like Lovren, Balotelli, Lallana, Borini, Lambert, Enrique & Johnson all on double or more than him some are sick notes some never get picked some are just crap.

He plays week in week out and even if he wasn't as good as he is he deserves to be better paid then all of the above.

Pellegrini is an excellent European manager. Not his fault the signings he isn't involved with have been poor. Yes the Pl is way behind the top leagues tactically.

Well no, he isn't an 'excellent European manager' given his time with City. He's had a squad good enough. And again, where the PL is tactically should have no bearing on the tactics Pellegrini employs in European competition.

He's way underperformed in that sphere imo.

You're the one blaming how awful Lovren is on Gerrard.

Remember last season when Lovren was an excellent defender, arguably one of the best in the league? Why did he look so good?

If you can answer that then ill continue this conversation.

Pretty sure we'd have no real problem paying him more than all of them... Your point would be relevant if we were throwing a big low ball at him but we haven't. That being said of pay him whatever he wants.

You want him to say schneiderlin and wanyama but tbh it's as much confidence and also the fact that he really wasn't that good tbh.

its always a fact thrown out as some kind of indication of where the club will be in 5-10 years with these guys.

Fact of the matter is if any of them turn into top class players then we will ship them out for a big fee and reinvest again in 5-6 talented players in the hope of repeating the trick again.

Sterling and Coutinho won't be Liverpool players by their 25th birthday's. In Sterlings case he won't be here next September. And the sad thing is, the club would see no issue letting him go if the price was right.

Its not how a supposed "big club" goes about its business.

I want him to say it because its the truth.

Just like he has looked a much better player this season when Lucas has been in front of him instead of Gerrard.

Southampton have a way better defense than Liverpool and since Lovren left it has got even better.

Lovren needs to play a lot better for a long stretch of time to justify that fee. He's now a dog to ever be worth the money for us. That's unfortunate but it's reality.

So you failed to answer the question even though someone else gave you the answer. Enjoy the match.

I think it's more the fact that Southampton play with two defensive midfielders that protected their back four really well.

Some of this football is actually comical it's that bad!!

    Bloody hell awful stuff

So playing 2 DMs makes Lovren a better player?

Lol, where has Borini come out of?

Well at least we have a striker on the pitch. Well...more like a forward. A forward that never scores. But still. :pac:

No Gerrard tonight and Lovren has been garbage.

Makes him look a better player than he is under a different system.

    Is Balotelli on the bench?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A forward with great movement just a pity he can't score goals.

No Gerrard tonight and Lovren has been garbage.

He should have given away a penalty and one wayward header. Johnson, Moreno and Can have been much worse defensively.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

When lovren has no time to think he is actually decent. Any time at all and he f*cks up.

Although I momentarily forgot about the stonewall peno Newcastle should've had. Puts paid to my theory.

Why the need for the extra touch again? absolutely laughable it happens more often than not

Lol, had to happen. He technically created the chance for himself too with that touch before the corner ;)

Well a good win. I think we'd likely need to win all of our remaining games to even make it a sweat on the final day but good to plug the run of league losses anyway.

Newcastle are dreadful but that isn't our concern.

He's not getting away with murder imo. His ineptitude has been called out on here. Some people just don't want to hear it because they're resolved to defending certain signings to the death for whatever reason.

He's been good going forward but when he does nobody covers left back... Not saying he's done well defensively but its not all on him.

Hard to pick a MOTM tonight between Lucas, Allen and Coutinho.

It's not really, it's Coutinho all day. The other two have done well tho. So has Jordan. And migd.
