Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

See you have jumped in and started to talk nonsense. I have been to plenty of matches, done the day trip on the ferry with IK, seen us lose to Chelsea to hand them the league, get beaten 1-3 by Villa twice and beat City last year amongst a load of other games (Man City last April was my last game) but the days of cheap flights & hotels are gone so it's too expensive to go these days. So don't presume I don't go to matches.

I never said I thought we should have won the league this season and I never thought we would. I expected a decent season with CL qualification the number 1 priority, a good showing in Europe, and finally a good run in the FA Cup would be a nice bonus.

I expected progress. That doesn't mean winning the league or winning anything in Europe. I would happily settle for 4th place as long as the manager and team were going in the right direction, and I would settle for it again next season.

But this season has been a complete disaster overseen by a manager clearly out of his depth, and coming 5th if we are lucky and winning the FA Cup doesn't change the fact the season has been a massive disappointment.

Those are my opinions. I realise I'm in the minority every time I post and know I face a backlash, but I don't care to be honest. I'd rather give my honest opinion than hide away.

I don't agree it's been a 'disaster'. I say this now before the game today should we lose to Villa and that would be season over realistically.

Your dismissal of Rogers is ridiculous. He's done really really well, better than I'd have imagined when he took over.

He's been sh!t in Europe, absolutely sh!t. But I'm willing to allow him to learn on the job because he got us into the Champions League. The fact he got us there so soon is a big factor for me. Yeah, we won't be there next season, but go again Brendan as far as I'm concerned.

If we win the FA Cup, there's definitely no arguement from me as far as Rodgers is concerned.

I'm fairly unapologetic in my fears for our league performances if we are in the EL next season but no way would I be hoping we don't win the FA cup because of it.

An Arsenal final would be epic, something to really look forward to.

Any chance of Mario getting a run today?

Chelsea used 26 players that season and still only came 3rd. Have we 26 players we could use??

Another game with no strikers on the pitch yet three on the bench.

Don't forget lads, chelsea may have won the europa league, but they just won the champions league a year before. They also signed Hazard that summer

Well that's another 3 points in the bag for City anyhow.

Less brilliant to see Markovic as a WB again.

For all the money spent on players since FSG took over that really is a weak squad we have.

    That bench is shocking bad.

I feel you post this every match... ;)

But yeah we still need to improve our squad a lot. But the same can almost be said of every team in the league. And the squad is still a million times better than it was when they took over. No poulsen or konchesky for a start.

    More effective there than Johnson

To be fair, Ibe, Sturridge, Lucas and Sakho would improve things

    Coutinho, you beauty!

At least the most important young player at the club signed his contract :)

Absolutely brutal from us, only one winner in this game and it aint us.

Take Gerrard off and we might have a chance of winning this still.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

I don't usually pay much heed to your average Twatter moron, but i've just seen one of my mates tweet that he reckons Rodgers is pretending that Lucas is injured so he can justify bringing Gerrard back in.

    Unfollow.

I'd hook a few more tbh. Sterling is poison.

Sterling's done well, one of the better performers in fact.

Not at all, sure isn't it just great to see him out there strolling around enjoying himself. Just sit back and enjoy it you'll miss him when he's gone.

On another note...it's great Coutinho being the best player in the league winds up so many people. :D

The only reason I know Stevie G is on the pitch is because I saw the starting XI. Anonymous as much as I hate to say it.

    Markovich off, he is awful.

Rodgers hasnt a clue what to do here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

This has been a really poor performance. You could tell after 5 or 10 minutes that they just weren't at it today. Let Villa have the initiative from the start. The striker situation has been a joke all season to be honest.

The worst thing is almost that there is no real reason to be optimistic for next season at all.

Hard to be positive right now... We look completely toothless and by God do we miss Lucas.

Those who would play in his stead don't inspire wonder.
