    Really? Wouldnt agree with that.
He's been good. His shot stopping has been the best part of his game as per usual. But his kicking is still poor and his decision making with regards punching/catching crosses is still patchy.
He's better than he was for sure, but I dont think he's been the best keeper in the league this year at all.

What goalies do you think have been better in 2015?

Hopefully sterlings contract is sorted soon. Some positive news on it anyway.

    2015 form table

    1: Liverpool DWWWDWW - 17 points

    2: Arsenal LWWWLWW - 15 points

    3: Chelsea LWWDWWD - 14 points

    4: Southampton WWWLWDL - 13 points

    5: Tottenham WLWWWLD - 13 points

    6: Man City WDLDDWW - 12 points

    7: Man Utd DLWWDWL - 11 points

    8: Stoke DLWWDLW - 11 points

    9: Crystal Palace DWWLWDL - 11 points

    10: West Brom DWDLDWD - 10 points

    11: Hull WLLLDWW - 10 points

    12: Swansea DDLWDLW - 9 points

    13: West Ham DDWLDDD - 8 points

    14: Everton LDDWDLD - 7 points

    15: Burnley DWLLDLD - 6 points

    16: Newcastle DLLWDDL - 6 points

    17: Sunderland LLLWDLD - 5 points

    18: Leicester DWLLLLD - 5 points

    19: QPR DLLLLWL - 4 points

    20: Aston Villa DLLLLLL - 1 point

If we can hold off Spurs we should finish 4th. Couple of bad home results for united and they can forget about Top 4. Their away form is awful and they show no signs of improving. Arsenal will almost certainly finish 3rd IMO, there remaining fixtures are very kind.

    Jaysus villa are fair ****e.

I'd guess he is holding out to see if we make the CL.

Is the Europa league a possibility. Is the standard that high of the teams left. Inter Milan and naploli are beatable.

We are one of the best teams left in it so definitely a possibility. Napoli are the biggest threat

I doubt CL comes into it.

It's getting the best deal for himself and that's fair enough. Would be nice if it was just sorted

That's where we are at, a good squad of players for the most part though how we spent the money to get there looks more accidental than type of plan!

As stated Lalana and Markovic for £45 Million odd is mad money, add in Lovren and it looks crazy.

We've spent £65 Million on a good player, potential and well, what a lot of people thought was a good buy.

Cheaper potential buys haven't worked out for us, barring Coutinho really. Ilori, Coates, Alberto, players like that and no real return.

So we've a decent squad, which we'd bloody well need to have after the amount spent last Summer!

Comes back to transfers, without that £20 Million spent 2 years ago we'd be in serious bother, that's what it comes down to. Lots of promise, potential and good players, but only really Coutinho and Sturridge stand out.

Obviously Lalana and Markovic could prove good long term buys but CM and CF are big priorities for the squad. An injury to Henderson or Allen and we're very light atm.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't class Mario as creative! He's a hell of a lot of things but not that.

Can & Moreno are good buys too imo. Can was a bargain.
Lallana was pricey but over the next few years will prove himself not a bad buy at all.

So too markovic and in a few years he will fetch a decent fee barring disaster as he is so young. A 20yo attacker playing wing back in his first year in the PL to an acceptable standard is a fair achievement.

Lovren seems lost but you never know.

Collectively, as a team/squad its proving fruitful, I expect that to continue :)

Agreed get it sorted one way or another and move on.

If CL was an issue he could just leave and not bother signing a contract!

    Yeah, get it sorted asap

If Everton can spank them 4-1 at home & 2-0 away I wouldn't be too worried about them , they have some good players and are in good form but they're well beatable. Roma , Napoli & Zenit would be the teams i'd hope to avoid until the final.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but, football doesn't work that way.

    Wolfsburg also spanked Munich.

That was the first game back after a 6 week Christmas Break, Bayern were obviously a little rusty .

Roma have a very tough second leg to come away at Feyenoord after the first leg was a 1 all draw. Their far from assured to get to the final

Did Wolfsburg not have that break either? :/

    Lol.

Wolfsburg have lost 1 home game in 18 games in all competitions. They're a good side.

Pool/Wolfs/Napoli/Spurs/Roma(Albeit have to make a good comeback)

All in with a good chance

No team is assured to get to the final, they are the teams I'd like to avoid until the final should Liverpool & one of those other teams make it there.

I fancy Roma to get beat in the second leg anyway. Feyenoord is a very tough place to go to and Roma have to win

I never said they weren't a good side & I pointed out their good form while saying I think we can beat them . Using Everton beating them home & away is a good indicator as to our chances of that imo.

Then using Wolfsburg beating Munich at home is a good indicator they won't:) Can English teams draw each other in the next round?

Ok, but seriously you can't honestly just be writing off Lovren after a few months at Liverpool when we have already seen there is a good player there somewhere?? I mean, I'm not saying he will definitely become a star player for us but for every Harry Kewell and Babel we sign there is a Hendo or a Lucas thrown in there. Lovren could still make it at Pool. At least give him a few games in a back 3 first.
Yeah, it's too early to write him off, especially as in his two re-appearances he has played on the opposite side of the defense.

We really, really, really need someone to step up and take responsibility for organising the setup of the defense, a Carragher, Mark11.

Sure you're doing it all wrong.

You must do it over 20 games to show who is going to win the 'Last 20 league games' league. That's the big one, bigger than the CL;)

The Liverpool side that started against Southampton was the youngest fielded in the PL this season with an average age of 23.4 years.

Thats true enough. I'm just a bit disappointed with Lallana i guess. I really expected more from him. He is our 2nd most expensive signing ever.

I suppose we talk about how we need to be smart with transfers and we cant spend big but then throw 45m at 2 average enough players. Sure Markovic might turn into a great player but its still silly money. Maybe its just me.

I wouldn't be overly worried about Lallana. He has a good output in terms of league goals & assists. Clever, tidy, and creative player. Not spectacular but effective. I think he'll contribute very well for us over the next few years.
The 2nd most expensive signing thing is slightly misleading because it ignores how much transfer prices have been inflated over the years, particularly the last 5 or 10 years as tv money has flowed into EPL clubs.

That's a good point. I'm sure if you calculated all of our signings to allow for inflation in currency and inflation in transfer fees generally by comparing to the days record fee etc I'm sure you would find Lallana is not our 2nd most expensive signing relatively speaking. For example wasn't Collymore and british record fee at the time we signed him?

I think Suarez, Torres, Cisse, Heskey, Downing, Acquilani and others were all more expensive when accounting for inflation.

Agreed. So with that said perhaps people's expectations of Lallana should be tempered. I think it will be next season at the earliest before we see the best of him in a Liverpool shirt, but he, like the majority of our recent signings were bought not just for one season.

Inflation or not approx 25m for Lallana still looks steep. Even if he delivers his Southampton form it is still steep.

As for the 2nd most expensive signing ever I didn't intend it to be misleading, just an observation.
