    http://whichcandidate.ie/

Have any of you tried this. You answer some questions and it matches you with the candidate that best fits your views.
It wasn't very useful for me though as none of them fit my views. It suggested I go into politics myself.
It does have a list of all the candidates and a useful summary of their achievements and promises/lies

Paul Donnelly and Joe Higgins at Clonsilla station this morning. Leo and Ruth were there a few days ago.

Haven't tried that one, but I did try smartvote.ie, which I found to be inaccurate, I think because some questions are fundamental policy issues while others are less important questions, but all are weighted the same.

I would love to bring my son to see the count in Phibblestown Community Centre over the weekend. How do you get to see boxes being opened etc?

I know each of the candidates are allocated tickets for entry.

Not sure how to get in without asking a candidate for a ticket!

Goddamn I matched with TJ Clare and Coppinger on the whichcandidate site.

    Coppinger!! :(

That's it I'm going to live in the hills.

In all honesty I'm pretty ignorant as to what each candidate is supporting this time around. They're all the same. And last night's "debate" was a joke. There really is a need for change. Some transparency and honesty would be appreciated. I'm sick of the question dodging. If someone just took a stance and were honest, well they'd at least be respected. But this dodging of the cronyism question last night was pathetic. I'd have admired them more if they just said, yes you're right and we've taken measures to ensure it wont happen again.

Funnily enough I did read Renua's policy and liked what it said. Unfortunately I don't agree with Creighton's anti-abortion stance.
However I'm all in favour of getting rid of motor tax, a fairer tax system and accountability.

On Newstalk the prediction was Varadkar, Donnolly, Chambers, and Coppinger.

I don't think Chambers is as safe as he said. You can't rely on the constituency level poll. Otherwise the predictions are probably right

Ivan Yates was surprisingly confident in his prediction this morning for Varadkar, Donnolly, Chambers, and Coppinger. I think the letter from Joan to Navan Road, carpenterstown and Roselawn basically pointing out that it is her or Ruth will actually win her a lot of votes. A lot of people are turned off by Ruth and see Joan as the lesser of two evils.

I'm not quite sure he's going to be right, Varadkar and Donnolly maybe, but I wouldn't be putting money on the other 2.

Agreed, I'm looking at the odds here http://www.paddypower.com/bet/politics/other-politics/irish-constituencies?ev_oc_grp_ids=2241638

There's no money to be made on Coppinger or Chambers and they are definitely not certain.

Joan is good value at 2/1, as people always vote more conservative on the day.

I think McGuinness is bad value at 6/1, he won't get over the line - O'Gorman had arguably more recognition and activity in the constituency, and it's a very outside chance but at 33/1 it's worth two euro.

Got a leaflet in the door from Coppinger. She's doing the whole 'me vs Joan' thing too.

Coppinger has to do that. She knows she's in trouble as I've said here the last two weeks. Big trouble.

Leaflet delivered to Clonsilla today. Nothing from Ruth. Polling cards came though so definitely have a vote!

Which candidate nailed it for me. Picked my one and two. Think I'll only be going to three or four max.

    Coppinger is just toxic.

Not the sort of comment that is wanted or needed thanks. If you've a point to make, make it like a grown up, dont just call someone names.

Umm is Lucinda not (scarily imo) anti abortion??

AAA protestors on the bridge over the n3 at the first shopping centre exit again tonight. Why do the Gardai let them get away with repeatedly screwing up the traffic?

Is that what it was? That will cost them votes, the eejits.

The irony is that during her press conference earlier she took a pop at Burton for sending out her similar letter.

Yep, very much so. However her party's ludicrous 23% flat tax proposal is the main reason they won't be getting my vote, even though I'd benefit from it. I thought that Eddie Hobbs was one of them and he was supposed to be good with money?

I agree. Shes panicking and the last three times I have seen her in ashtown, she's had three different hooks to draw people in. All reaction, no definition. Although I have to hand it to her, she is working hard for the vote. I like nice things far too much to give her any vote though.

I see Ruth doesn't want the unemployed male vote, going by her posters.

That is what enda said last night re cronyism. He fessed up in fairness.

Also agree re Renua. They are the only party that I feel represent me and my own interests, but I can't give a vote to Lucinda Creighton. If she (or anyone, in any non communist party, for that matter) could just turn around and say "if it's not my womb, it's not my business" that'd clinch my vote.

Speaking as a woman, you couldn't pay me enough to vote for Ruth.

Has anyone actually had any Renua canvassers?

Coppinger is nuts. The last time I seen her on Vincent Browne she was attacking Christianity, saying the St Bridgets Cross should be banned and something about Irish patriotism being racist. Then a few weeks ago she was orchestrating the Anti Facist/Communist protest vs Pegida, and her cohorts were attacking Gardai.

She clearly also either hates or has serious issues with men in general. And in her position she cannot alienate an entire gender and people like that. Shes just a very unlikeable person. I mean Joe Higgins would be comfortably elected instead, hell shes up against Joan Burton probably the most unpopular Politician in the country and the Socialist Party had 2 seats in this constituency, and still she struggles.

Ruth , Mary Lou and Leo Varadkar are Vincent Browne tonight.

Not that I've heard, only found out she existed a few weeks ago. And apart from the tennis club thing the only thing I know about her is that she has feck all to do with the area.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

I've had a good few leaflets in from her. In the last few weeks I only had more leaflets from Leo and Chambers than her.

Because having a common set of genitals as a candidate is always a good reason to vote for them.
