    Hi Hairyface

I understand that you are going through a difficult period right now with regards to the thoughts of homelessness, however our policy here is to close any threads where a poster expresses suicidal thoughts. such as you have done. This is done for your own protection, as the risk is too great that posters might offer you bad advice, even if it is well-intentioned, that upsets you more. It's also important that you seek help for yourself first, before seeking help for your family situation.

However, we do have an online representative turn2me.org who you can PM, and who will reply to you and offer you the help and support that you need. They also have a website at https://www.turn2me.org offering various services. We have made them aware of this thread.

In the meantime, please seek assistance from Threshold (www.threshold.ie) and contact your local CWO who will hopefully be able to assist you in seeking out resources from their side.

Please also take a look at the links below.

    Regards,

    Morri

I need some help please ive just been given 90 days notice to leave as the landlord wants to sell the house if been renting for the last 3 years. Im in receipt of RA but my cap is 700 pm and there is only 2 house in my area on the market and they are going for 900 pm. I dont know what im going to do now. I'm affraid that me and my family are going to be homeless in 90 days and to be honest id rather do away with myself instead of living on the streets. If anybody has some advice please reply.
    thanks in adv.

can you move to a cheaper area? why do you need to stay in your current area?

    Move to a cheaper area..
    Cavan is much cheaper !

Moving to Cavan won't help unfortunately as the rent cap here is 415 for a family with two kids and finding property in that bracket is hard too. I feel your dilemma OP as I too have the same problem.

Hairyface- there are a few things you have to do.

    1. Contact Threshold who will advice you of what your housing options are.
    2. Contact the Community Welfare Officer immediately- advising him/her of your impending homelessness.
    3. Some of the organisations such as the St. Vincent de Paul- do have funds to help people like you on a temporary basis- which might enable you to get a little further down the road- possibly past the junior cert exams- which is a big event on your horizon.

You are making a good first step by even bringing it up here- many people in your position ignore it for as long as possible- at least you are giving yourself time to evaluate what your options are.

    4. With respect of your family's impending homelessness- and your obvious anguish over what is happening- you really have to deal with this too.

The Samaritans offer a free phone (even from mobile phones) number- 116-123. The are staffed by amazing volunteers who will listen to you and who will be there to support you emotionally through difficult times. I strongly suggest you call them- they are completely nonjudgemental- they are there- and it is good to talk. I strongly suggest you give them a call- they will help you deal with the situation and let you know that you are not alone.

I am temporarily closing this thread pending discussion with my co-mods.
