Gearbox fault, Transit

    2009 TRANSIT 350, rear wheel drive, 6 speed gearbox, 232,000 km on clock,
    its git a problem with first gear a wont stay in it, you have to hold it in it,

    is this an easy fix or a new gearbox

    Its more than likely a worn selector.
    It would be a gearbox out to change the selector.

    Couldn't be simpler to remove a rwd transit box

    You sure? If I remember correctly there's some part of the subframe or chassis in the way in an '05 '06 transit. Not sure about newer ones.

    The subframe has to be dropped on the back to let the gearbox out but its simple enough as long as the bolts come out.

    been told its bearing trouble, seems to be a weakness in these boxes and new modified kit available to repair them
