Really? Away to the best side in Turkey, a notoriously difficult place to go to, without Coutinho, Henderson, Sakho, Lucas, Gerrard and a clearly out of sorts Sturridge?

But yeah, Rodgers is a clueless prick, right? :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

What makes you think Besiktas are the best side in Turkey?

Its not really though. It the lottery was as easy as taking a peno you'd see a few more lottto winners I'd say. Awful pen. But why would you trust your 5th pen to a CB.

How many penalty shoot-outs have guys seen? Defenders are chosen to take penalties all the time.

Based on our showing in the Champions League and having an out of form under pressure Lovren taking the 5th penalty then yed, I think he's clueless.

Such bull. When we were in the CL, we hadn't found our form. Over the last 12/15 games, we've been the best team in the LEAGUE. You are just ignoring that now??

Lovren obviously volunteered. We don't know what goes on in training, maybe he normally takes a good peno.

But no, you are right, he's a prick. Grab a mirror...

Disappointing, don't understand why the final peno fell to Lovren. We didn't put out a great team, and BR allowed the midfield to be overrun for too long before making a change.

  • Registered Users Posts: 448 ✭✭Seaba

If we are looking for a reason we lost I'm looking no further than Sturridge, Sterling and Balotelli, which is a change from blaming Gerrard, defensive cocktails ups, Mignolet.
The front 3 were shocking. Ball kept coming back

Good result for Liverpool. Can focus on getting back in the Europa for next season now.

in fairness i think that was arguably our strongest team given all the injuries to the squad

The state of English clubs in Europe. Bunch of useless overpaid wasters!

Hopefully now people will realise that the Premiership is in serious decline.

This propaganda that the weaker teams in the Premiership are somehow getting better will hopefully be seen as the folly it is.
The top teams are in serious decline .

An outdated table? They aren't 1st at the minute.

Galatasaray are top of the turkish league at the minute and Besiktas finished in 3rd, 12 points off 1st place last season.

They're the second best team in Turkey at a push, but probably the 3rd best.

Surely the best are over a full season? The next game could see them in 3rd, are they then the 3rd best, then best again a week later if they win again?

In fairness saying they are the best right now is not that big of a stretch considering they are top and have been for much of the season. Who knows what the future brings?

Will most likely be only 2 English teams left in Europe after this round if Arsenal and City crash out as expected.

Not really a shock imo, the tactical ineptitude of some of the English teams in Europe compared to their continental opposition is mind-blowing.

City and Arsenal in particular looked like they had zero game-plan throughout their matches.

Its similar to how we say BC meaning Before Christ.

PM or Pre-Madonna refers to the period before Madonna's first hit single in 1982. Any players born before this date are "Pre-Madonnas"

In fairness. Besiktas played some lovely football tonight. Their whole team seems very technically able. All were capable of dribbling out of a tight spot. Also I love Slavan. Such a cool guy.

Shame the Spurs went out as well, would have been a good distraction for them.

This could be a blessing in disguise, fewer games. Tonight showed that we don't have the depth we need, missing

    Johnson
    Flanagan
    Enrique
    Sakho
    Lucas
    Gerrard
    Henderson
    Coutinho

And Ibe, Can, Sterling and Sturridge all looked tired.

tactically rodgers has always been very poor so not sure why people are giving out when some point that out.

bilic is a couple of levels above rodgers

How on earth has Rodgers always been 'very poor' tactically?

It's actually some of the biggest load of crap I've ever read on this site, and that's saying something.

Does this say anything about the premier league?

The team that finished second can't beat besiktas over two legs.

Does it? City couldn't beat Wigan the last two meetings. What's so far-fetched about Liverpool not being able to beat Besiktas over two legs?

Why because he had the cahoonas to step up and take a penalty in that games.

What nonsense, so Rodgers is absolved as we hadn't found our 'form'? That's funny. Pathetic but funny.

And thanks for reminding me we've been the best team over the last 12/15 games, pity you can't remember how rubbish we were up to that point. You ignoring that?

Of course you are because if you weren't you couldn't pride yourself on being such a true 'get behind the manager blah blah blah' type of uber-fan.
