Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have you images of Sturridge arguing with every player as they step up for their peno.

Was that the penalty that Ballo scored that has us still in the tie?

Looking at who we have on the pitch, I wouldn't fancy us much if this goes to penalties.

Would have to be penalties in Istanbul. Haven't seen the game but sounds like Sturridge is having a 'mare? Hard for the team to suddenly be without Henderson and Coutinho, especially with Lucas and Gerrard already missing.

No, these are penalties that would happen at the end of extra time.

I think we've only ever lost two, with the second being against Northampton a few years back in that historic tie against the great league 2 side at Anfield under Hodgson.

Sterling and Sturridge are f*cking useless this evening.

Ref can spot the dive but missed all the fouls from the number 8 of Besiktas

    Get Borini on for Sturridge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,594 ✭✭✭kingshankly

This performance from Sturridge is up there with sterlings away to basle

    Sturridge is embarrassingly bad tonight

He shouldn't be near a peno if it gets that far

Sterling and Sturridge are f*cking useless this evening.

In their defence, they are outrageously isolated whenever they get the ball. It's like the tactic is to hope they can beat 6 defenders on their own.

Sturridge has still been awful though.

Lots of very tired looking players now. A few up front are struggling to even jog after balls near to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,949 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

    Lambert for penalties

    Sturridge off injured

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Jesus, no. Borini would do more damage here than Lambert.

I think a crap Sturridge is better than Borini just running around.

Edit: So does Rodgers and that's why Lambert is on.

Lambert on for Sturridge. Looks like settling for pens.

Admittedly, I am trying my best to avoid focusing on a piece of work due tomorrow. But still, the point stands.

Should anyone else wish to rant complain to TV3:

    CEO - david.mcredmond@tv3.ie,
    Press Officer - sharon.mchugh@tv3.ie

    TL;DR:

    gallery_1_1_11337.jpg

    Dear David,

    How are things?

I wish to draw your attention to the constant stream of abuse levelled at one Mario Balotelli by your co-commentator, Mark Lawrenson during the Besiktas vs Liverpool Europa League match currently being broadcast this evening.

Among the countless barrage of insults thus far (I haven't kept track as they are incessant and I am quite busy procrastinating on things that I ought to tend to. Perhaps you can empathise?) are that Mario is both 'dozy' and 'brainless'.

This is a mere a snippet of a stream of abuse which is unending, jarring and quite frankly very dull.

It is also illustrative of a clear, strong and prior bias held towards the man in question, one which suggests in my mind that Mr Lawrenson is not fit to carry out the task required of him.

Frankly (and I've always had the good grace to keep this under my hat David, at least on a National level), I have long found Mark's commentary and attempted analysis to be both quite dozy and a bit brainless.

Should you wish to continue to hire washed up former Liverpool F.C lackeys (and I say that as a lifelong Liverpool F.C fan - for my sins) such as Mark (please not Ronnie Whelan), a bit of variety would be welcomed?
A change is as good as a holiday, as they say.

I assure you that these characters are not in short supply and if you so wish, I can provide a shortlist of suitable candidates all of whom would more than fit the bill.

I also speculate that they would likely be willing to start on a lower salary/rate than our Mark currently enjoys, which would leave precious extra funds for you and you to spend on such beloved TV3 offerings such as Xposé and Psychic Readings live.

    Yours sincerely,
    Paul

P.S Luis Garcia is a top, top lad.

    I need food. :p

Not long back after 5 months out. Probably exhausted. Not played well but it would be beyond daft to fine someone for playing badly.
