Gopperth has been good at times but very average at others. Needs to slot this.

This game was there for the taking.

Ospreys clearly driving there before the ball is in. It's either a free kick or not, John.

    Last scrum. Discipline needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

That step and offload from Furlong was ridiculous, what a tighthead he could be if he is able to hold down an international scrum

Huge 2 points stay ahead of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Hmmm, as pathetic as it was, those 2 points keep us alive.

    Nobody happy in that ground.

    Draw. We'll take it.

Dreadful display from both sides - error strewn affair.

    Leinster should have won that.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 3,093 Mod ✭✭✭✭ktulu123

well that was upsetting for the whole game of rugby, on behalf of Leinster I apologize to world rugby haha

Happy enough to get them points but another terrible performance.

Our best league points there in 6 years lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Good result in the context of the season but if either team played well they'd have won by multiple scores.

Good last ditch defence by both is all I can say when they managed to hold it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,822 ✭✭✭LostArt

Both teams deserved to lose that game.

Some say Leinster are still out there, trying to score a try.

From what I saw that was more like kissing your brother than your sister, dear god. Forget about it and move on I think

Still trying, but still not managing to score.....and the Ospreys are not even on the field.

It's a result that exactly 100% of us would have taken before kick off.

    Onwards and upwards, ever upwards.

Was switching between this and the U20 game for a period but not too many answers regarding our forwards there for me especially in terms of leaders. We didn't have one in the front 5 at all. The line out was a complete mess. I think we made a complete balls of our first 3 line outs which is impressive.

It's not so much skill levels in the backs as the complete lack of fluidity or cohesion. Players taking the ball slowly and delaying as the runner is a half second behind or ahead of where they should be which forces the forward pass, knock on or being caught behind the gain line.

Traditionally, the 6N period is our strength where we climb the table into a strong position but this season we've gone through what I view as our worst period in a number of years.

I take comfort in points in Swansea. They're a rare commodity. They've won every league game there this season. With that said, they were utterly awful tonight and we matched them.

Yes, I would have taken that result certainly. But the performance I would NOT have taken. We were just lucky that the Ospreys were woeful as well.

The lifting in the lineout was really poor and they lacked any decent jumpers. The lineout was really bad but it was very disrupted. The lifting though, oh god, it was like the jumpers were going up in slow motion.

Missed the game, came home with it recorded, glanced here and watched Eurosong on the late late.

    Was I better off?

Can the mods add a poll please.

Was it really as bad as the threads here and on LFs suggest? Was at the U20s game so haven't seen it. Should I bother?

Called it as a draw on LFs during the week so at least something went right for me today....

I have it recorded, will I watch or am I just putting myself into the same misery I have over the last few weeks watching Leinster.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,968 ✭✭✭✭phog

I only saw pieces of the game and while it might be argued Leinster could /should have won, they got 2 valuable points from a game where they haven't won in ages.

Yes, you were better watching the Eurovison.....nice winning song that.

No need to watch it. Here it is: pick, drive, pick drive etc, shovel the ball along static backline a few times, go nowhere, eventually knock on. Scrum penalty. Repeat. That's about it. Absolutely crap game devoid of any redeeming factor. gopperth made a good kick to draw game late on.

I would say on the positive side was our scrum utterly destroyed theirs for long periods. Josh VDF is extremely eager for work and popped up everywhere. While Ruddock lookee rusty he was very hard working. Furlong was good both at set piece and in loose. Te'o showed some good moments but is lost at breakdown.

    Not many other good points

They're good points. VDF was certainly busy, and yes, the scrum was pretty awesome. If it hadn't been though, we would have lost. I thought Gopperth had a decent enough game.

  • Was at the U20 game so only saw the last 20 mins, but was pretty awful from what I saw. Countless handling errors. How does a draw do for making the playoffs?

Quite good. We remain ahead of Ospreys who still have to host Glasgow and Munster. Completely in our own hands with a chance of home semi if we can beat Ulster and Glasgow.

There were other areas where we did well. We kicked better than them in open play and came out better off in pretty much every exchange. A few dodgy exits at the end after Boss had gone off.

The problem with that came when Ospreys had the ball in our territory. We struggled to get it back off them apart from when they made unforced errors. Our back row was very disrupted with even Conan dropping out and we struggled on the deck really. A bit more dominance there would have done wonders in the territory battle. Defensive organisation also suffered and we were really only held together by experienced players taking that upon themselves.

We also struggled for ball carriers in the forwards. One of the reasons we looked so awful with ball in hand. We still looked at our best when the forwards were attacking close to the fringes but that's probably because it's the only area where Boss is really comfortable these days.

Out wide we didn't scare the Ospreys at all. The organisation of the backine was appalling. Bring on Sexton's return. Until then we need the big guns in the forwards back and they're going to have to carry us.
