    Rant incoming...

Sooooo, we have Ronda Rousey, the US soccer team, Serena Williams etc, women who reached the top in their fields by being the best.

WWE pushes someone because of their looks and calls it a "revolution".

She's not even all that. Those dead eyes....

Alexa, Emma, Carmella, even Bayley are all better looking and 100x more talented.
One thing from that rant. "beating a babyface champion as a face herself". I never, at any point, got that she was face. From the way she comes out to the ring with what feels like an undeserved sense of arrogance, the crowd reaction (though I suppose that's not saying much, I mean look at Reigns), and the fact that it's the commentator that defends the heel actions that stands up for her most made me assume she was heel.

She's still so wooden in the ring though it's a wonder the other ladies don't get splinters.

Ok so I'm no fan but let's give the devil her due. It's not her fault that she was hired for Total Divas. Nor that she was rushed onto Raw and and Smackdown without any experience and exposed as completely untrained. If she had been training from the get go she would only be graduating NXT now

That should have lead straight to a championship match. The whole thing has been so stalled.

Bloody hell, that quote from Greg Valentine is fairly fecking atrocious.

Is that the one about how they shouldn't be in the ring and that they all belong in the kitchen?

Belong in the kitchen, pregnant and barefoot no less.

Hopefully we see him pop up on an old school Raw sometime between now and the year's end.

That Greg Valentine quote is ****ing ridiculous. Pro wrestling isn't having a good time of it lately on several fronts. Ex wrestler making really stupid/racist comments.

Also on the Eva Marie thing, she isn't botching anything in her nxt matches it's just its so slow and she is telegraphing what is happening next and she's not running the ropes good at all.

In the training videos she was running them good but that ring was smaller than an nxt ring which I think is smaller than a wwe ring.(it looks smaller anyway)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I'm trying to remain optimistic about what will happen with her (Eva Marie). For the moment though, it's great that Bayley is the champion. But she can't remain champion forever, I guess. If Eva is getting booed to high hell, at least she makes for a good heel sure.

Except for forgetting to kick out of a pin last Wednesday, with the referee clearly stopping the count at two so she didn't lose. The crowd sh*t all over that one :pac:

Granted, Becky did the same at Takeover a few weeks ago, but at least they had the sense to give Emma the victory in the moment and try to recover it afterwards. It was just embarrassing the way it happened with Eva

Don't understand why Sasha is being considered an afterthought in the whole Revolution thing.

She's class in the ring, and not just by by Diva standards, actually class and has more charisma than the rest of the Diva roster put together and 95% of the men but she's reduced to losing to Paige in 90 seconds and then getting a cheap roll-up as payback.

Absolutely. I can't only think of because she's black, seriously. There's no good reason. She was lumped in with Tamina and Naomi kayfabe because they "couldn't get the job done" themselves. She's an excellent wrestler and highly marketable, great gimmick, it's baffling that she's not put front and centre. Perhaps WWE can only fail at pushing Divas one at a time!

    why? cos

    1) WWE cannot book the woman on the main roster
    2) When they try to they can only really do 1 storyline at a time

The 3 team dynamic has thusly moved into the background as the focus starts on the title chase story

    3) Cos they decided to give slick Ric's daughter the first shot

This means that team PCB were the one given focus and who team up in the build to her shot to take on the Bellas et

I'm sure Sasha will get her shot down the line although how many loses will she have had in quick matches before then I dunno

    main roster booking yay :(

So is everyone looking forward to the match tonight? I'm thinking Charlotte has to win here, but I've seen people saying they thing it will end up being a disqualification finish maybe.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

DQ finish makes the most sense. Nikki gets the title as longest champ and the PPV rematch is set

either Paige or Becky (more likely Paige) will attack her and cost her the match imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

I call Sasha interfering somehow. She's been getting consistent wins over Paige, and she's the only NXT Diva that has not been pinned since the call-up (Charlotte pinned by Naomi, Becky pinned by Brie). Plus she has a clean win over the Divas' Champion. She'll interfere to cause a DQ and demand that she be put in the match as well - thus a triple threat at Night of Champions. From there either Nikki keeps the title and continues the Team Bella vs PCB program - or else Sasha wins the belt and feuds with Charlotte in her place. Either way, Charlotte should not get the title this early. If she's being groomed as the next top babyface, it has to be a while before she finally gets it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,187 ✭✭✭Ridley

Nikki retains via shenanigans but loses later in the night?

  • Registered Users Posts: 465 ✭✭billion dollar baby

So with TNA dying on its arse lets hypothetically see who, if any, of the current Knockouts WWE may have an interest in.

Gail and Kong are out for sure. Cant see them having any interest in Marti, Rebel or Velvet either. Angelina and Madison and Jade are great talents but I just couldn't see it. That leaves Taryn and Brooke. I'm not sure if Taryn burned her bridges with WWE last time or not but I do think Brooke could be a possibility. She has really improved her in ring lately and as far as I'm aware didn't leave with any bad blood last time.

Not that WWE needs any more really. They've plenty of under utilised talent on the main roster and a sack load more in NXT but sure you may as well throw your opinion out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I'd really like to see Gail Kim and Awesome Kong back in WWE. Kharma would have been a great candidate to come back and end Nikki Bella's title reign last night, after the way she left the company kayfabe-wise last time, vowing to settle up with the Bellas when she returned. I doubt we'd see continuity like that if she were to actually come back though, ha ha. Taryn would be great to see as well, although I don't remember that much about her from when she was in WWE before but she's got the look that Vince McMahon usually loves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Not a chance Gail Kim ever goes near WWE again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I'm unfamiliar with how she came to not be in WWE, but did they not pat ways on good terms?

  • Registered Users Posts: 465 ✭✭billion dollar baby

She literally just walked out. She left the ring during a battle royale and quit the company. She has took numerous shots at them in the last few years too with various interviews and such. Nothing she said was wrong by any means and it was during the era of 1 minute diva matches so she had a right to be pissed. But I can't see WWE wanting her back for a third run

Kong/Kharma is the one that was the most disappointing to me. So much potential for greatness and a dream match scenario with herself and Beth Phoenix but was just not to be with what happened in her personal life. It's such a shame but nobody's fault. I thought maybe s year ago there was still hope but when she showed up in TNA again it was clear that WWE didn't want her back

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but...

Gail Kim got hired back by WWE in 2008. She had a few matches but didn't do anything of note. In her last year with the company she was constantly criticising the lack of time the Divas were given on Raw, very publicly on her Twitter account. And there were a few things that happened to her that she was annoyed about.

    * They first asked her to be a trainer in FCW. She refused, as she felt she still had more to offer.

    * She was approached to be in a documentary about successful Korean people. John Laurinitis said yes at first but then did an about face and said no. She claims he said they didn't want the crew filming backstage, and she offered to just do a sitdown interview with a couple of archive clips but they still said no.

    * One week the women were banned from doing punches in their matches and another they were not allowed to do any kicking. She says that she had to frequently sneak spots in past the agents because they wanted the Diva matches to be "more girly"

    * She felt hugely embarrassed at some of the segments the Divas had to do - pillow fights, dancing, swimsuit matches etc.

    * When she was put with Daniel Bryan, there was one match where she walked out with him to the ring and then she was ordered to go to the back. She felt disrespected as she had been out there in gorilla before the match with Vince and John, and neither of them had said anything. The disrespect was that they assumed she wouldn't know what to do at ringside or something

    * Her last match was a Divas battle royal and the segment before had run over its time - so management said "everyone get out of the ring before the next commercial break" which was only about a minute of ring time. She decided to eliminate herself and just roll out of the ring, and none of the people backstage noticed. She quit on the same night but they refused to release her - so she had to wait until her contract expired

Didn't word come out that Kharma was going to be returning at the start of 2012 there? I remember thinking she might appear at Extreme Rules that year. It was very sad the way things went for her, didn't she tell people she had a baby and then later announce that she had in fact had a miscarriage, I think so. I looked up about Gail Kim after that last night and never realised that that was the way she left the company. It's a pity because she probably would have been great with the women that are around the last couple of years there.

Trivial question here, but were the divas hair always so long? I was watching the charlotte-nicki fight from RAW and it was pretty weird looking at times

Every single Diva on the roster has these huge extensions now that makes all their hair he exact same style and length. It drives my girlfriend mental.
It's pretty stupid tbh, and I bet they were all told they had to do it

Is Natalaya absent due to caring for tyson? Or is she injured herself? Would be nice to see her wrestle the nxt girls on raw

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

Long hair just tends to look better in wrestling. Like with all the hair flying around when taking punches etc., it makes for a better looking sell. That's why the Divas all usually wrestle with their hair down. Extensions/weaves are just part of the package to look good on TV - fake eyelashes, lots of tanner, padded bras. The ones who used to be in the company said they had to be 'Perfect Tens' every day. Goes hand in hand with the males and their tanner and baby oil

I think Natalya is still caring for Tyson, at least there's no injury of hers that's been reported. They probably don't have too big a problem, seeing as it's all probably going to make for more Total Divas material

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,821 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

I think long hair looks good alright, but these extensions just look ridiculous to me, half the time you cant even see the persons face

Paige on her frustrations with creative...
At the San Jose, CA Wizard World Comic Con, Paige participated in a Q&A session with fans. During the event, Paige talked about picking her battles with creative, what she would do if she was in charge of the Divas Revolution, and who she would want as a tag team partner.

Paige claimed that she picks her battles with creative and said it can be frustrating. Paige gave the examples of being put in a 5-on-1 situation at Survivor Series and the Submission Sorority name as times when she spoke up against creative and they did not listen to her.

According to Paige, she told creative that the Survivor Series crowd would turn when she was working as a heel against five babyfaces.

"I knew it was going to turn out the way it did because I was on the bad guys' side, but I said to them, 'there's five girls against one girl, even if she's a bad guy, [the audience] is going to support the one by herself' and that's how it turned out." Paige continued, "the whole crowd ended up turning on the good guys and chanting for me instead, but it's just like, 'okay, so you're dumb. I told you this.'"

Paige said she also told creative that the Submission Sorority name was a bad idea.

"I said to a couple of the writers, I was like, 'dude, Submission Sorority? Don't let children Google that. So we have to, like, change it.' And they were like, 'oh, we'll speak with Vince [McMahon] at some point.' And, I'm like, 'okay'. And then I see we get called the Submission Sorority on RAW the next day, there are millions of people watching, and then suddenly people are like, 'oh great, you're in a porn group'."

Although Paige indicated that she has no say in the Divas Revolution, she stated that if she was in charge, she would want more matches with stipulations, a Divas Championship Money In The Bank briefcase, an all women's pay-per-view, and divas matches main eventing pay-per-views. On the topic of a Divas Championship Money In The Bank briefcase ladder match, Paige said WWE could paint the ladders pink to make them more girly.

When asked who she would want as a tag team partner if there was a Divas tag division, Paige named Bayley, Emma or Sasha Banks.

Criticising creative? The shovel is being prepared as we speak.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

It's not as if the division needs her. Becky, Sasha, Bayley and even Charlotte are far more entertaining to watch. But Paige is considered a main eventer or at least someone with a lot of prominence, so maybe she's able to get away with speaking up to an extent. The Bellas have been pretty vocal about their dislike of some of the stuff creative has had them do too

Yeah, they had JR doing that PPV. Styles (who was on the Raw commentary team) was only brought out for the hardcore match between Edge and Foley I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

Maybe they turned on Trish because they just identified with Mickie in the storyline? Like they did the obsessed fan thing back with Sable and Tori, and that time the fan was the face and the wrestler the heel. I remember at the time people thought Trish would turn heel on Mickie rather than the other way round. But yeah she was just fantastically crazy. I'd forgotten just how good Mickie was. Jillian Hall as well. It's a huge shame she never got much of a push

I loved Jillian Hall! I thought I was the only one! Shame she was basically the female Heath Slater. I know most people hated the singer gimmick but I thought it was a hoot. Some of the men would have been thrilled with her heel heat
