The planning application will be withdrawn due to the amount of objections. Confirmed by Cllr Cormac Devlin

Ridiculous NIMBYISM. Probably from the same folk who complain over dinner about the lack of any upmarket, independent retirement complexes in Ireland in comparison to abroad.

Strange that they should pull the application, seeing as theyve come this far and invested time and money in it. The Council would still have to consider it on its merits and at least the decision would then tell them where they stand and what change of scale might pass on the site.

If proposals were pulled every time there was some volume of objections, there wouldnt have been anything built in Ireland since about 1970!

The application itself was riddled with errors, incorrect information, misinformation, deliberate omissions and planning rules/guideline variances . It drew observations/objections from, Dept Arts & Heritage, Dalkey Community Council and An Taisce. Most of the 57 private objectors were neighbours in the same age range as the promoters target market. It was clearly heading for serious grief and the promoters decided to withdraw rather than have a refusal on the site history file, which would be a negative going forward. This outcome will not surprise anyone who actually studied and understood the application and issues involved.
This is a sensitive site from a heritage/environs perspective and a very difficult one from a roads/traffic/safety one. It is bounded closely by mostly modest bungalows, not owned by any so-called elite, which were to be completely overshadowed and overlooked with a huge loss of sunlight and privacy by this six storey barracks.

I thought I would resurrect this thread given that there is new interest in the site by Savills Group.

There is a brochure at the following page outline one potential use for the site: http://search.savills.ie/…/Devel…/Lands-at-Dalkey-Manor.aspx

Click on the "Download brochure" link. According to page 6, it could fit 22 houses (mostly in terrace formation).

There is now a new development being proposed in the site in question the details for it can be found at the following address:

It looks far better than the Pegasus proposal. What do y'all think?

The period of observations and submissions for the new Dalkey Manor proposal has expired. To date, a relatively few entries have been submitted and can be found here.
