It was very intense when it passed through Athlone an hour ago. The WIND was insane. It knocked over loads of stuff out in the carpark outside the office. Signs and bins blown over. The office front door got blown wide open with such a bang I cant believe the glass didn't break.

And that rain, Jesus the rain. biblical levels of rain for 5-10 minutes

It has just passed over my home near Enfield and looks like it was very intense. 2.5c drop in temp in 10 minutes. Squall is now Dublin bound - Will it break up as it crosses the city, as is often the case?

Top temp of 12.8C at 08.30, 1 hour later after the last of the rain went through it was down to 10.0C where it remained more or less until the evening started cooling down about 17.30, now at 4.8C under clear sky.

Once the rain cleared it turned into a tremendous bright sunny day and almost cloudless by the end of the day. The wind originally fresh from the SSE veered once the front went through to the W and went all the way around back to the SE, its current direction. Top gust 64 kph, currently avg 11.3 kph. Was on the coast for a while, fair bite in the wind.

That squall line had lost it's puff by the time it got here; total rainfall today 4.2mm though it was a wet and windy morning.

Became sunny from around noon and the temp hit 12.5C at 3pm. Now clear and cold, 1.8C with frost on the car tops.

Just looking at that - Yesterdays squall line was quite nasty in a number of areas - this one looks nastier still, based on radar returns anyway.
