Dry and cloudy at first, started raining about 11.30am and continued on and off until recently, though total rainfall only 4.4mm.

Low last night 4.0C, it was cold with temp around 8C much of the day but it's now 12C and getting very windy.

Tonight has really taken me by surprise as I haven't really been keeping an eye on what the models were saying lately with it being so boring:P...I live in a fairly exposed region but its really howling out there with the house making lots of noises...It's great:D

South west Laois might i add

Managed 44kph on an MTB this evening on the flat surface of the coast road. Crazy stuff.

Terrible winds this evening. A plane couldn't land at SNN so it went to DUB and couldn't land either. Sympaty with the crew and passengers.

Meanwhile here in Clare, I'm pretty sure my bins are in my neighbours house.

94kph clocked at my nearest weather station in asjford co.wicklow. I am right on the coast in Wicklow town and we are getting battered; shocker

Just realised that is highest gust this year,

Didn't expect winds to be this strong here in Limerick, wondering why that is. Shannon reporting 37kts mean wind speed and 56kts gusts at 22:00

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,362 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

When is the wind due to drop ?

I want to put the bins out.

    (in athlone)

Laois and very, very windy with very strong gusts and lightning. Fence panels have blown out.

Portlaoise is actually crazy. Seems to be getting worse and worse.
Trampoline is trying to get in the back door! Think we've lost some roof tiles, have moved the cars.

Roof tiles getting serious rattling in limerick city! Hope no one has to be out and about in this yellow warning. Worst by far in my particular corner, not sure if that is due to direction or sheer force.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,035 ✭✭✭redsteveireland

Pretty wild here, half of the barriers around the water meter works have blown away.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,160 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo

A gust of 59 knots at Casement on the 2300 reports....Dublin airport 55 knots

Not the worst we've had this year but still some very strong gusts rattling the slates. It seems to quieten down for a while and then gusts start again.
    In Newport, Mayo.
