Hurricane conditions here in N Kildare, or at least it feels like it, nothing this bad was forecast.

This would have deserved an alert thread all of its own.

Have to agree, worst this year by a mile.

Was driving near Athlone earlier, car was being blown side to side, awful heavy showers where it became impossible to see properly. branches down. It was dodgy driving in it.

It's baffling no one called it, MT stuck an alert up earlier but it's way worse than what was forecast.

I really need to find a new place to put my bins.
They fall over all the time, last year they even ended up on the road.

Now, I cannot even find them. They are not in the neighbours or anywhere I can see with the fairly good lighting available.

Its a windy night across the whole country which in itself is fairly rare as its usually confined to the SW,W,NW and N . for places in the west the gusts are nothing out of the ordinary. for midlands and east its been fairly strong all evening and topping the strongest gusts for midnight is 57 knots at Casement which is about 65 miles per hour(105 km/ph), so perhaps met eireann could of put more of an emphasis on it but the gusts wont be much stronger than that. a blustery one for sure....but no more than that which is spot on met eireanns yellow warning "

The water level in my toilet has dropped and the water is swishing around. My house is shaking. Some of the gusts are brutal. West cork

Surprised there's no thread on here for the wind, it has been shocking here in Donegal, worthy of at least an orange warning from ME

Bright and breezy in Galway city this morning

    Temp 7.2C in a moderate WNW'ly breeze
    Overnight low 5.6C
    Rainfall since midnight 2.2mm
    Barometer 1012.19 hPa Rising 1.11 hPa/hr

That was a wild night up here in Ballyvocogue County Limerick.

My nearest weather station is Shannon (I can see the lights of the airport at night). Two gusts recorded of over 100km (the highest was 104km at around 9pm) according to my favourite site meteociel. The power went a few times but I was amazed it came back ( we get alot of powercuts, eight already this year, lost power for nine days in the storms of Feb 2014!)

Not very unusual readings for my area but it was the length of time the high winds lasted that was the problem.

Wild night last night; lots of bits of branches and twigs scattered everywhere.

Sunshine and showers today, some of sleet when temps fell below 5C in a strong blustery wind; max 9.3C. Accumulated rainfall only 2.0 mm as the showers moved through very fast.

Currently 6.8C and sunny, but still fairly windy.
