Question about altering flight details?

    Hello,

I've got a bit of a dilemma. I had flights to Canada booked for March 26, but somebody very close to me passed on February 9 and, for obvious reasons, I don't intend on emigrating as soon as scheduled.

However, with the POE set to expire in May, I am keen to fly over solely to activate the two-year visa and fly back to Ireland very shortly after because, as I said, I've got added responsibilities here and staying over there just isn't an option at the moment.

So, I've got two questions: firstly, the flight is one way but can I change the details to include a return without a) buying a new ticket or b) paying significantly more.

Secondly, the final destination is Calgary via Toronto, but can I activate my visa from Toronto without getting the connecting flight? I know I'll still travel insurance and proof of funds, both of which I will have.

I'll ring Lastminute.ie, with whom I booked the flights, tomorrow but I'd like a bit of information beforehand if possible.

    Thanks very much.

Everything you've said you can do, but it'll definitely cost €€€€ for a new flight!

Ring them, but if you're looking to add a whole new flight that's going to cost you.

I changed my original return flight with Air Canada from 27th Feb to end of June and the outbound airport from Ottawa to Toronto. Cost me E180, which was just admin costs I think.
