Bit it's a loaded question. You should have asked "what about Judaism" in relation to my post.

If you continue to post short and inane ramblings, don't expect many answers.

That's a no to correct answers then, thank you

If you are attacking Jewish people because they are Jewish that is not racism, it is discrimination and persecution based on religious beliefs.
Not exactly, because not all people who identify themselves as Jews are practising a religion. It seem appropriate to speak of the Jews as "a people" and, of course, we have a word for people who attack the Jewish people: antisemitism.

No it's racism. Most jews are secular. Attacking aspects of Judaism like circumcision or Kosher is an attack on the religion. That's rare. Generally the attacks on Jews are attacks on presumed ethnic aspects of the people not the religion.

Also attacks on religion are not necessarily "discrimination" or "persecution". Are criticisms of Catholicism "persecution".

    Ah, the Britain First/EDL/UKIP defence.

Amazing how many times people who use that defence turn out to be racist anyway.

Pathetic. People like you ensure that criticism of any religion is seen as bigotry.

It's the first defence when criticising a religion. "Oh, you have to respect my faith". Eh, no I don't. I can criticise it as much as I like.

People who don't subscribe to Jewish beliefs aren'the Jewish even if they identify as Jewish. If one discriminates based on identifying as Jewish that is not racist, as race is not the discriminant.

No they are Jewish. They've historically been discriminated against because of that ethnicity not just religion ( Hitler didn't just round up the religious).

They self-describe as jews. It really isn't up to you.

The 'debating' tactic that I see employed more and more by certain posters is to identify anyone posting in a thread that isn't calling for the complete annihilation, obliteration and extermination of any race/creed/gender/ethnic group as a 'whingeing liberal'/ 'pinko leftie'/ part of the 'herd left', vilify them and somehow twist the debate to make these posters they've imagined out of thin air responsible for and supportive of every atrocity, catastrophe and minor inconvenience since the age of the dinosaurs.

It would be laughable if it wasn't so infuriating and incendiary.

You have to subscribe to Jewish beliefs to be Jewish. I can identify as Brazilian, but it doesn't make me Brazilan, I can identify as atheist even though I believe in a God, it doesn't make me atheist.

If someone discriminates based on either religion or self identifying as belonging to a religion then that person is not discriminating on race, therefore it is not racism.

Oh ffs. Many (if not most) jewish people are secular jews. They don't self identify as religious. It's a ethnicity as well as a religion. Hitler wasn't a sectarian he was a racist.

Couple of years ago, I used to follow and post on Indymedia.ie. Nothing unusual then for AFA, Residents against Racism and other such groups to exhibit their wares and I used to enjoy many a ding dong questioning what I thought were well meaning, but extremely polarised and ill conceived views.

Naturally, a heap of my comments were deleted and I was regularly the subject of righteous venom.

I’ll never forget one of the most offended was a guy called Pat c. Pat c, an Indymedia editor no less, thought nothing of calling myself and anyone who dared agree with me a racist, a fascist and whatever else was on his mind and warning the "collective" about our presence.

Turned out though, when Pat Corcoran wasn’t outing racists, promoting abortion and generally making the world a better place, he was furiously downloading kiddy porn which ultimately cost him his job and his name.

On boards today, I have seen individuals readily identify with groups that have murdered mothers and turned innocent children into mincemeat, yet strut their PC stuff on immigration, homosexuality, sectarianism and racism with the best of them.

So it ain’t black and white and it’s far from one size fits all and that, like it or not, cuts both ways.

I have no issues with criticising religion. It's when that criticism is used as a defence of racism and bigotry that I have a problem with.

It's a religious affiliation for some; it's an ethnicity for some; it's a cultural bond for some; there may be other reasons why people identify themselves as Jews. That's why I prefer to think of Jews as a people rather than as a race or a religion: it's an inclusive descriptor.

    That wasn't my intention.

I went on to say that it's normally easy to spot genuine criticism in my next post.
