    Hi!
I have a carbon framed racing bike which I ride with look keo pedals and road shoes..

I am getting an aluminium roadbike for training and touring & looking at getting spd pedals with a mountain bike shoe, so that I can walk reasonably comfortably off the bike..

Can you recommend a good quality, light spd pedal which I could go for?
My budget would go up to €100!

    I appreciate your feedback!

    A

I use these on my good bike and find them great: Shimano PD-A600 SPD Touring Pedals.
I use these on my old bike, one side takes spd and the other side normal shoe: Shimano A530 Clipless Road Pedals. They also work well.
Shimano also do several road shoes that take spd cleats and are easy to walk on. I use them all the time with my road bike. Like these :
Shimano RT32 Road SPD Shoes 2014 or Shimano RT82 SPD Road Shoes 2015.

80g heavier but €40 cheaper. Where do your priorities lie?

    Hey! Thanks for the replies..
I will check these pedals out..
I am looking at still going out on club spins on the alu bike, but having a set up with a recessed cleat, so I can easily walk around the place if I cycle on touring trips...Ideally if I could do this without losing too much power and adding too much weight...!!
I won't be doing any racing with them!

    Thanks a mil!

Wear thinner socks and you'll gain back the 80 grams don't get to hung up on weight and power on a touring bike that's what your race bike is for.

Was looking for mtb shoes myself recently and saw these and thought they'd make a great commuting/touring shoe

They look like a road shoe but have a rubber sole and a recessed cleat

Have these on order for the MTB but I'm considering replacing my looks with spd's on winter bike/commuter. Hoping to do a few days touring this year I'll probably just use my mtb spd pedals an shoes though rather than spending more money.

Have these pedals like them still enough of a platform to cycle on them without being clipped in.

Ah you know in cycling now...its all about keeping the weight down!
I like the look of those Shimano Xt M780 pedals...
The specialised shoes look nice, but no prices on that website..

    So all i need in a shoe is;
    -relatively light
    -relatively rigid
    - a good walking surface..

    I don't ask for much!!:):)

RRP on the RBX road shoe is €95 and €130 for the mtb shoe you should get 10% of that and plenty of bike shops carry specialized.

A shoe with a good rubber walking sole is always going to heavier. Some of the mtb with lugged soles wouldn't be that much heavier but wouldn't be much better than a road shoe for walking in.

The rime elites are a good bit lighter than the rbx shoes and according to specialized a little stiffer but they wouldn't be my choice for using on a road bike.

I use those M520's on my fixie/single speed. Great little pedal - can't think of anything negative about them.

A520 with RT32 shoes gets you under €100 and keeps you consistent with the Road look and feel. If you stretch you can think about the A600 pedals with the RT82 shoe. Both setups have recessed cleats and weigh as light, if not lighter than some of the Keo setups so perfectly adequate for road use - and more durable. I have the A600 on the carbon bike and the A520s on the Alu/commuter/winter bike and they work perfectly. I have a pair of commuter shoes - cheapo Decathlon ones - I have not changed the cleats on in over two years (10k kms).

So maybe the RT82 shoes with Shimano Xt M780 pedals might do the trick...

+1 for Shimano PD A600s. I've had them on for 2-1/2 years or so with no problems €52.83 + deiivery from Ribble

Have you considered MKS with straps ? Ideal for touring as you can wear trainers. They really tie the bike together too.
