I had no idea what double unders were all along and have just now googled it. Big lightbulb moment :D

They're bastards is what they are is what they are. Impossible little bastards.

I'm doing lactate testing today. I'm so scared >.<

    On the upside:

woooohooooooo Imma be a runner again \o/

I like box jumps. I like skipping.

I don't like not being able to do double unders.

I bought a speed rope, I'm going to rip the shins off myself until I learn to do double bloody unders.
Glad I saw this and looked it up! Took me ages to master the cross-over but now I can do the cross over while skipping on one foot. Definitely going to try this!:) It looks pretty difficult though!

They're one of those things that are a mental challenge more than a physical one. Once the penny drops its ok. Penny just will not drop for me!

Lactate testing done. Only covered around 3.5km I'll get my results and my new training plan by Sunday.

Yaaaaaaay. On the downside. Less crossfit :(

    I DID A DOUBLE UNDER

This morning was a four hour crossfit workshop. Focusing on form and movement. He said it wouldn't be a workout as such but there was a lot of working out and there was sweat!

Absolutely brilliant morning though. Learned loads.

Quiet week this week. A rest from crossfit to ease me back into a running plan. Only 3 easy runs this week.

Tuesday was 30 mins easy. No hassle there.

Tonight was 30 mins easy, but easy tonight was a much slower pace that Tuesday and my HR was all over the shop. 4 x 12 second hill sprints at the end and pulled my groin on the last one. Really hoping it'll be right by morning :/

It's always **** getting back into it. I feel like I'm constantly starting from scratch.

I'd tell you to take it easy but you are a stubborn bastard. Just don't hurt yourself more. But yaaay, yer back running! :)

Any halfs coming up for ya?

No races whatsoever for the moment. Just building my strength back up. I might do a parkrun to see where I'm at in a few weeks but I think I'd be pretty devastated with my times if I did one now. They were pretty abysmal before I got injured :pac:

Working off heart rate at the minute, rather than pace, it'll take getting used to but I've got one of the best coaches in the country (well, least I think he is ;)) so I'm just going to do exactly what he tells me to do and trust him to get me back to full fitness and race ready.

I'm considering moving my log over to the AR forum as it's going to be more running focused from here on in.

God no, I love crossfit. Just none this week and then I'll just have to do less of it for the moment! Twice a week, three times max for now.

    How's the groin this morning?

Well post your updates to both places? I'm not going to the AR forum to read it...running is weird and scary to me.

Me too me dear, me too :D

I might have a running log, with details of my runs, and then just chuck "20km" in here.

I'm not ready for a running log yet in anyways cos I'm barely lifting my feet off the ground!

Feel like I've been hit by a flippin bus so couldn't drag myself out of bed to go to the gym at 6 :(
Not like me not to be able to get up. I had one small glass of wine yesterday evening but that's hardly it. Really hope I'm not getting sick, I've to run later :/

    One small glass of wine???

I'd say that's definitely it tbh - should have been at least a bottle :D

I had such a bloody day yesterday so I stopped on the way home and got a bottle with the full intention of drinking all of it.

In reality, as soon as I felt the first sup on my lips my stresses melted away. It's a few weeks since so it was extra nice. I might the bottle tonight :P

Feeling a lot better, though I think I might be getting an inner ear infection which is just marvellous. I'll be good to run though.

I didn't run. My blood pressure is low and my heart rate extremely low so rather than risk fainting (which I've been prone to in the past) I'm sitting and having a good dinner. I'll run in the morning.

I don't know if anyone has any interest whatsoever, but I was looking for photos for a thing for my Dad's birthday next week and I was reminded of how my body has changed. Thought it might be worth posting. Even as a reminder to myself of what I can achieve.

    Big bualadh bos!

    Some work you've done!

And fair play for not going for a run. I'd be more inclined to make the stupid decision :)

Still a way to go but a whole lot closer than I was. It's a slow process :pac:

I would normally be fairly stubborn but I actually just don't feel right and my HR is down at 44 (and I'm not fit enough for that to be normal) made me think I'd be just stupid.

Thank you. When I look at photos in succession like that it's easy to see the differences.

One of these days I'll stop giving myself such a hard time :)

You really have worked very hard Whoopsy. That's a remarkable difference from the first pic to the recent one.

You look great and you have every right to feel great. Fantastic job, ya ride :)

    Ah thanks lads :o:)

    40 minutes easy run + 4 x 60 minutes strides.

In the absolute torrential rain. I didn't enjoy the rain today!

Found two 1kg dumbbells earlier. The type they make in pink for girls. I rolled my eyes at my stupidity for having bought them years ago, then I did 100 curls for the craic before I got bored :pac:

Off out now for an easy 10km.

    Testing week this week.

I knew I was weak, but jesus I couldn't even pick up 85kg off the floor. Couldn't lift it.

    And a 29kg strict press.

    Oh dear.

7km run home from the gym. Was hard.

    Feck sake!

You'll have days like that. 9 days outta 10 you'd nail it. This was just day 10.

    Hashtag next time

What Alf said. Plus the crappy days make the great days even better :D

70kg Backsquat - didn't try for higher as my form wouldn't have held up. PB by 5kg.

42.5kg Push Press. Done with ease. Had to leave it at that as yoga was starting. Raging. Still PBS by 5.5kg.

Supposed to do 20minute easy run + 4strides. Managed 15minutes very slow but not easy at all. Had to stop, legs just wouldn't do it.

    Just the 2 PBs then?

    Disappointing.

Nice PB at the yoga :D:D

Very nice squatting \o/ Gotta start me some push pressing on of these days...

Haha yes just the two :p

Hoped to get a 5km PB this morning at Darkness into Light and was headed for it but a stitch that I could not push through caused me to actually have to stop a couple of times so loads of time lost. I was there for a good cause though and that's all that matters really.

Note to self; your tea to water consumption ratio needs significant improvement.

    Rest day yesterday, recovery week.

30 mins "easy" run today. Couldn't manage to keep my HR down.

    Bleugh.

    Wednesday:

    15 minute AMRAP

    10 walking lunges - 10kg
    7 push ups
    10 sit ups
    1 burpee

    10 rounds + 7reps

    Thursday

    Deadlift workshop. Was deadly.

    Few lifts
    5 x 60kg
    3 x 70kg
    1 x 80kg
    1 x 85kg
    1 x 90kg
    1 x 95kg

    10 minute AMRAP

    5 x 60kg DL
10 x burpees over the bar
    15 x 6kg wallballs

    4 rounds + 5 reps. Was knackered!

11km "easy" including 6 surges toward the end.

Not going to lie. I was glad I didn't have to run any further.

Still though, getting my running confidence back again :)

    Barbell complex

3 rounds without dropping the bar. 20kg.

    3 x deadlift
    3 x hang clean
    3 x front squat
    3 x push press
    3 x back squat
3 x push press from back
    3 x overhead squat

    Push press

    5 x 5 @ 30kg

    Metcon

    21, 15, 9

    Pull ups (with band)
    Wall balls 6kg
    Walking lunges with 10kg overhead

Dropped down a band so on red now which is deadly but meant I struggled in the last round to get reps so ended up failing loads. That's ok though. Got them done :)

    7km done.

    1.5 easy, 4 medium effort, 1.5 easy.

Back home by 7am. Going to try and do my midweek runs early, for a couple of reasons. For one they're a little bit harder, and for two it'll be good to get my body used to having no food in it for a good 10-12 hours. I think :D

Decided to go to the gym this evening instead of this morning. Pulled up outside, phone rings, problem in work and I'm on call. Raging. :(

Serves me right for not going this morning.

    5km very easy done. + 6 x 60 metre strides

A friend who doesn't run asked could she come out with me this morning, I was delighted to have someone to keep me running at an easy pace because I tend not to have the discipline to do that by myself, and she is totally chuffed with herself that she could do 5km without stopping.

    Great morning so far!

Weekend was a disaster. Family drama on Saturday meant missing my long run. Sunday I was violently ill and couldn't keep water down let alone run. Had to miss gym yesterday as I was too weak.

Sounds like a lot of excuses. But hey. That's life I guess.

Have eaten very little in the past few days so was dreading tonight's run but I really enjoyed it. Medium effort was slower than I'd like but still felt strong.

    10mins easy. 30minutes medium effort. 10mins easy.

My long slow run was not long but was slow. Felt rubbish and had to stop after 4km while my running buddy continued on for her 10km.

Still though, 4km through beautiful edinburgh.

Off to the end of the marathon now to have a look at what state I would have been in if I'd been able to run it :D

Will try my LSR again tomorrow.
