Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know of United Youngsters who would fit into the Squad for next season like McNair, Wilson and Blackett?

I think Mensah is a possible to breakthrough in the next couple of seasons. Hes already progressed so much in his short time here.

No Skrtel against Arsenal is probably good for United.

He'll surely get into more trouble for basically calling the FA clowns?

Yeah ban came on Monday, the review panel for that stuff meets on a Monday and in fairness to them quickly hand out retrospective bans.

Skrtel's appeal has been rejected, hopefully they add 2 more games just for the lols.

Impossible to prove that he's actually talking about the FA.

We all know he is. But he wont get a further ban etc etc.

Rio got into grief over some of his stuff posted online, everybody knows what Skrtel is at with that pic so another couple of games will teach him a lesson.

Yeh but he got grief after obvious stuff. The racism thing comes to mind. But to further ban Skrtel would be stupid.

Can anybody actually prove what he's talking about? No, it's obvious but he can easily deny it and just say he was posting a funny picture or whatever. A further ban wont happen and it's silly to think otherwise

Can anyone actually 100% prove that he meant to stamp on De Gea? No. They made that judgement because they thought it was likely he did. I'm sure they could do the same with his Instagram post.
    It's up to them really.

No point getting into that, it's completely different and comparing what happens on a football pitch and what somebody posts on the social media account is pointless.

Even though it's implied, it'd be a bit daft if they went after Skrtel for posting that.

It was a bit daft of him to post it.

But it has nothing to do with the game. It's his personal account and he posted something funny without mentioning any name. It's not like he did what that braindead Babel did. He just posted clowns and not mentioned anyone's name.

It would be mad to ban him for that but hopefully just to create some drama they do.

Remember that the FA don't need anywhere near the proof that a court would to make a ruling. Terry got cleared of racism in court, but was still done for 4 games by the FA. Skrtel could easily get another charge over that post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Considering the timing and randomness of it, it would be hard to argue it is NOT aimed at the FA.

I am personally disgusted he would insult such fine gentlemen at the FA and would like to see further bans added to his punishment :)

Obviously court ruing is completely different from the bans in sport and it more or less changes your life (court ruling). FA works more on balance of probability.

Still can't see on what grounds they can charge Skrtel and he can find millions of excuses.

Didn't Rio Ferdinand get a fine for simply "liking" a Twitter post that somebody else had made? One relating to Ashley Cole.

The bar for these things is set very low, and if Skytrl thinks he is fooling anybody about the meaning of that picture then he may be in for a shock.

Now, to be clear, I'm not saying he should be charged with anything. But as you asked on what grounds:
    The FA wrote:

Media comments and Social Networking cases – Charging guidelines

    ...

    Types of comment

The following types of public media comment, including on social networking websites, may
be considered to be in breach of FA Rule E3:

Comments which are improper, which bring the game into disrepute, which are threatening,
    abusive, indecent or insulting.

Comments about match officials which imply bias, attack the officials’ integrity or which are
    personally offensive in nature

Pretty stupid of him to post it, but it's also so trivial that I can't imagine the FA would react. Doing anything about it would be worse for their image than leaving it go.

Soz bangkok, forgot you are the arbiter of the thread.

How about just don't say anything if you're not interested in discussing it? Now there's a thought.

Because he stamped on our wonder keeper perhaps?
Or it helps us in a our attempt to ensure we secure top 4?

Skrtal has been strong for Liverpool this season and his loss adds another massive dent to Liverpool's now slim chances of CL next season.

Would Ruud Van Nistlerooy be effective in our current side?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,137 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Would Ruud Van Nistlerooy be effective in our current side?

    Probably would.

I can probably pre-empt that debate would lead along the lines about how Falcao is very similar, and the system and style has not been to his strengths.

Ruud had an incredible touch and was brilliant with his back to goal. Falcao is like our midfielders hitting a ball of a brick wall, comes fumbling back...

Van Persie has been in dire form and he would get in ahead of Falcao at present.

probably not, if we had beckham down the right though, falcao, rooney and van persie would be all banging them in right now though

Different kind of player as mentioned above, Ruud could play with back to goal, not Falcao's style

having beckham back would be great could have someone to take a corner properly which has not happened in years

Mata scored two great goals but i think overall Fellaini has been our best player this month.
