Folks - anyone got any insight into the ferry situation in Greece? Had a Google around and they're coming in at hefty enough prices; €50-100 mostly. Are you better booking them over there? Or is that just the going rate?

I flew to Athens in 2011 and then visited Naxos and Santorini and the Cyclades.

The prices you've quoted are about right, we purchased ours at the time of travel as we weren't sure when or where we wanted to go!
I remember in Naxos (fab island) there were a few shops down at the harbour selling tickets and there were differences but only a few euro really.

We planned on staying in Santorini for 4 nights but only stayed 2 and went back to Naxos as we didn't really like it there.

The prices are set by the government so there's little variation. Fast ferries are more expensive, slower ferries cheaper but overall the prices are regulated.

Just to add to this, the slow ferries are actually great - all have outside seating - take a good book and a bit of food with you and you can really chill out :)
