    OP, if you want to be with her, you're going to have to be firm with her. If she asks you these questions, tell her "I will not entertain this abuse, stop it right now". Do ask her why she thinks she has to act in such a manner. She is very insecure and is looking for affirmation but maybe she also is looking to hear something negative because deep down she feels low self worth. If you do decide to stay with her, you have to make it clear you will not put up with abuse. There will be initial confrontations, but if you want to continue this you have to change the basic nature of your relationship.

    OP, what you said was normal decent social behaviour. The answer to "does my bum look big in this?" is not "yes because you have a big bum" but rather it is "no dear, and your bum always looks lovely to me". Don't beat yourself up about your behaviour - it has been normal and respectful. Don't know if it is possible for you to visit her counsellor to see it that would help. Counsellors might not be qualified enough to help her - she may need some sort of psychologist. Not being funny. <mod snip>
