I can't believe I've read through 5 pages (mobile) and manhatten cheese and onion wasn't mentioned once. Only discovered them recently enough but they are hands down the nicest crisps you can (or can't sometimes) get.

Walkers Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli is the correct answer. The Mexican Chipotle ones are great too, and Tyrells Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper are also lovely.

Barry McGuigan or A-team crisps (balls of air mostly but cheap).

Am I going mad, or weren't the Barry McGuigan crisps known as Barry McGuigans Jabs and were Nettle flavour ?

You are not wrong. I think they were re-released last year (new flavour though)

Tayto? King? Fancy ones like Pringle or what have ya?

I'm partial to Hunky Dory's myself! Failing that, King all the way!

One thing about Ireland is that crisps are taken seriously. There is no better accompaniment to a cup of tea, or between two slices of sliced pan that I can think of anyway!

So what say you, citizens of AH - which artery clogging morsel of deliciousness do you favour?

None of them are good for you.

Surely they'd be better off being called "The Best Crisps Ever Made" then?

    Monster Munch for the smell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭PandaPoo

You'd be hard pushed to find crisps I wouldn't eat. I'm not big on chocolate or sweets, crisps are my thing.

Salt and vinegar Tayto, king in a sandwich, or bear in the big blue house ones are my favourites!

Not a fan of crisps really, closest thing to crisps I'd enjoy are Doritos, which are of course nacho chips and not crisps, I love nacho chips.

I have a few firm favourites, including KP Mini Chips (still available for any doubting Thomases), McCoys Mexican Chilli and M&S Wiltshire Ham.

Golden Wonder Cheese and Onion/Salt & Vinegar are AMAZING and currently on offer in Tesco.

Also think King have always been superior to Tayto; Tayto are just salty orbs of onioness.
Also love Tayto Toobz Sour Cream and Onion.

If I could still get them, it'd be Hunky Dory's Worcester Sauce or Ghosties bacon flavour snacks... nyooom.

I would have posted earlier, except i was making my way through a large bag of Hunky Dory's Crinkled cut cheese & onion, hmmm!

Did i hear right that there's a shop opened up, just for crisps only, saw the intro for the 9 o clock news, but didnt see the rest?

    SuperQuinn yellow pack!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

Oh and KP Fresh and Golden 12 pack in Dealz (Cheese and Onion/Salt and Vinegar/Ready Salted), only €1.49 and SO delicious...but a bit more high in fat than usual standard size bags of crisps.

I think it's a Tayto sandwich pop up emulating the one up north.

Generally, when people have a battle of the crisps discussion, it always seems to come down to King or Tayto but I think both Keoghs and O'Donnells shít all over them at the minute.

Walkers are incredibly bland compared to the Irish brands to be honest.

Aye, they're still around in some places alright. I mostly find them as multipacks with more air than frisps inside the packets though.

We'd better ban them so, lord knows we all need those extra few years in a retirement home.

    Monster Munch haven't changed, happily.

It's just that a lot of the siopas (Seachtain na Gaeilge and all that!:)) are stocking Tayto's Mighty Munch instead - which to my tastebuds have a more bready and less chrunchy texture to them and have a distinctly less spicy kick!:D
