    According to the above link, The Bentley is reopening in a few weeks. There was a post inviting people to apply for a load of different positions to a gmail address but this seems to have been taken down again.
    BE WARNED folks if you've sent your personal information ie your CV to that email address ! That building was completely gutted, upstairs & downstairs. If you get a chance to take a look inside, you will know there is no way it will be reopening as a nightclub or retail unit "in the coming weeks". From what I hear, it will never reopen as a nightclub, only as a retail unit. One would wonder what is the motive for someone to setup a FB page & advertise false jobs in an effort to gather CVs, this seems very sinister to me - surely this is illegal ??
    It would be a good news story if it were to reopen,providing jobs etc & If anyone knows any different please share but as far as I'm aware The Bentley & any other nightclub will never be reopening in that particular building.

    I guess we'll just wait and see. Until then this is just a rumour back and forth.
    Why did you name thread "Bentley is reopening" and then go on to say it's not? It's just confusing everyone imo.

    My thoughts also, I watched BBC last night where they completely gutted a house inside, re-built it and had it ready for the owner to move back in and it only took nine days, its not unheard of for a building to be revamped in a few weeks. It only took a few months to build the Applegreen Station from scratch

    If someone had a clever-enough lawyer, they could probably prove it is illegal in some way. But if the CVs were sent to a Gmail addresss, it could be mighty hard tracking down who exactly to sue for it.

    And recruiters advertise fake jobs all the time, so I'm thinking it would not be an easy argument to have.

    I guess a pro-tip would be;

    Don't send any information to any @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, or any of the like. They always just come across as dodgy to me.

    Also - wasn't the Bentley just terrible? I was there once and never went back. Then again, I was a Cuba-head.

    It was great if ya were between 15-18.....or were too drunk for anywhere else. Ya could always trust The Bentley

    I was in there twice, it was dreadful both times.

    The thing is, there is so much potential there that is going to waste. If it was me and I had the money, I'd turn the place into a decent sized live venue, with a proper stage, something like the Academy in Dublin. That's something Galway is sorely lacking, and it'd be in the perfect location for it too.

    Galway desperately needs a decent live venue, it's ridiculous that we're one of the few major cities without one, hell even Castlebar has a venue. I've been getting in contact with a number of rappers and bands whom have upcoming gigs in Ireland and when I ask what would it take to get them to Galway the answer is almost always the same, "a decent venue".

    I didn't give it much thought tbh, I was just quoting from their FB page but I wasn't saying "its not" I was saying I ca'nt see how it could be open within weeks considering its only just 4 walls with a builders finish at the moment but as Storm 10 points out, these things can be turned around quite fast. I was also putting it out there if anyone knew any different - let us know.I'd be concerned though if I had sent in my CV, god knows who would be getting their grubby hands on it. If you take a look at Mullery Auctioneers site, you will see they are leasing the building as a commercial retail unit subject to planning permission not a bar/nightclub as it was once advertised as so this strengthens my belief that this building will not operate as a bar/nightclub again.

    Hi Darko, don't Monroes Live & The Quays specialise exclusively as "Live Venues" or do you mean a bigger 4,000 capacity venue such as The Royal Theatre in Castlebar ? In which case yes I totally agree with you, Galway City is sorely lacking for such a venue.
