Suspension fork: does black colour wear?

The section of a front suspension fork which slides *into the fork* I've noticed is available in both shiny steel/chrome colour, or alternatively a black colour.

If coloured (black in this case), is this colour more liable to wear off than if shiny steel? It's a Suntour fork.

Much of a muchness with the colours. I'd be more considered that's it's not a very good fork.

Is it not a good fork?

I'm replacing an identical fork from a bike, so thought an identical replacement would be the best with regards to geometry.

It's the first linked-to one above i.e. the ncx lite

These are very much low budget forks.
I imagine the black would wear off.
Depending on the bike, It might be worth investing a few more euro on something better.

If choosing between them then perhaps the chromed is better for this reason.

It's a Gazelle.

Any suggestions? It wouldn't necessarily have to be suspension forks.

Those look like 50-80mm travel forks. The problem today is finding forks under 100mm travel, and thus altering your frame geometry. Maybe see if you can find a second-hand pair of earlier (so <80mm travel) Rox Shox Judy XCs? Just make sure if you do go that way that it's not a DH (downhill) model that you get, i.e. "Judy DH" vs. "Judy XC"; the DH models had more travel, starting at 80mm if I recall from the early days.

From a brief look on ebay, you will find pairs cheap enough but you'll need make sure you know your steerer tube dimensions/length required and whatever forks you get will most likely need a service. TBH; any second-hand pair of suspension forks should get a service as first port of call anyway to make sure there's no issues or likely issues can be headed off before they become an issue.
