    Sooo... apparently you can't insure a van if you're not a plumber/electrictian/etc

You also have to prove your self employed to tax it too as a plumber etc.

but cvrt ? No problem. Anyone can do that :)

Isn't that ridiculous though? There are a number of reasons why you could own a van for private use.

Remember when everybody was buying 350Zs/ 300ZXs etc and converting them to commercial for the cheap tax?

    Thank them

Mentioned it before but if you're mad enough, which I suspect you are, the road from EnnisKillen to Ballyshannon is absolutely quality....

Some lovely driving roads around the Carlow area too which should be considered!

if i had a considerable bit more funding wise, I'd be all over that

Thinking of just going up to howth, purely for beshoffs, but then again.....the chiper up the road does fish and chips way nicer

Wild Atlantic way around Achill is class. There is a lot of good driving roads around Connemara, but they will be swarmed with rentals and tourists going about 40km. You can have frig all fun around the bends and hollows when you constantly get stuck behind these leisurely drivers....... unless that is, you enjoy driving like a granny.

There's a fantastic road in the middle of newbridge , across from the shipping Centre it a actually goes through part of a building.

I think it's called KFC drive thru !

Is that an actually real road. If so I do not know why all the bends. That road should have been straight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

It doesn't look very real. It's too twisty to be fun anyway.

I don't see what's the facepalm about. You'd have to go through those bends quite slow since there is no room to pick up any speed.

Ah but you drive a fwd diesel ;)

Edit: Not sure if your golf estate is a diesel but its the generic VW answer. Maybe it is Petrol?

How long did the front shock take to replace? I presume the e46 is much the same, the rears on mine were so easy to do.

About 1.5 hours, on the e36 its unusal, it bolts to the hub so undo the bolts top and bottom and you are half way there.
Longest part was swapping the spring!

    21.jpg

Unfortunately for you, the e46 goes for the common shock that is dropped into the hub and clamped!

    10012010755.jpg

It may take you a bit longer!

Is it illegal to sell cars on the side of the road now? A friend had theres for sale outside his house, sign on it with the details and contact number, and he was told that it was illegal to do so?

Wouldn't imagine so, who told him it was?

It was certainly the first ive heard of it. He said the local shop-keeper (very strict man, no sense of humour or anything) told him that it came in some new legislation and that it is illegal to do so.

Sounded like the biggest load of crap, but said I'd ask just incase!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭Foxhole Norman

Maybe the road tax was out? If it was then it would've been an offence to have it parked on a public road.

It's apparently contrary to Section 71 of the 1993 Roads Act

I know some local County Councils take a dim view of it.

Someone hit my panda. Saw it the other day, and only got the full view today in daylight. :(

Rear door on drivers side pushed in just ahead of the wheel arch. Think it could be pulled out. Will put up pics later. :(
