Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No such thing as bad publicity lads.
I'd stay at charleville lodge, and the only reason I would is Because I know of them from the bad publicity.

Hope it does, I know it's only the loan of a car for the weekend, but if that's the sort of trickery they are up to then it's bad form.

Audi Ballina did it last year and gave the car away no bother, had pics of the winner with their family and everything.

No trace of the competition is on their page now so I'm told, all that remains is the 30k+ likes they got

Audi Galway, Ballina & Sligo is all the same Co. (Kevin Connolly)

Once again, incompetence leads to me picking up the pieces. Can't anyone actually do a job right on a car at all....?

How long does a provisional c licence have to be out of date before you cant renew it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,657 ✭✭✭CIP4

Anyone know if interior lights are ran on a canbus wiring system I know my car has a canbus system and exterior lights are. But was toying with the idea of changing the boot light and possibly the four footwell lights on the doors to LED. Not sure if it may cause more harm then good and possibly look tacky.

I don't think anyone stuck in your boot is gonna worry about the ambience. ..

If they are just on/off then they should be ok. Considering it won't cost much for the LED's.
If there's any trendy dimming or fading them maybe not.

Remember all my whinging about an extender pedal?

Driving in heels has solved it :)

I get steering feedback on the M1 but that's it, but the M1 is notorious for noise etc

So Chris Harris is selling his S4 and wrote a very honest (amusing) advert.

    NCT Question.
Engine Management Light stays on. Will it fail NCT? All other lights go out after a few seconds.

    No.

Are you certain of this? It's not in the 2014 NCT manual, most of the other lights are. Hope it hasn't come in recently, as they are getting more and more strict on the test these days.
Need to get NCT done ASAP, as insurance is out next week.

Are you sure? I thought any illuminated dash light (that shouldn't be illuminated) was a fail?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,080 ✭✭✭✭Big Nasty

The EML light itself is not a fail.

What's causing the light to come on in the first place could well lead to a fail, e.g. emissions.

Since when has any insurance number cared for NCT? I'm with NoNonsense and they automatically renew my cover (they just send a new disc and it's direct debit as usual, been working like that for years) and they never asked me for proof of NCT. Once bought a car with no NCT, transferred my insurance, sold it again, transferred insurance back to my old car, never a question about NCT.

If it's a diesel they won't do the engine test once they see the light is on
it's about ten pages into the manual

If it's a petrol they will

Axa asked for proof of NCT this year on my Corolla. Something to do with its age

The excess wear on your heels might be more expensive than the pedal extender.

This focus is an absolute miser on diesel as they say. Getting 52 MPG out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

I have never known the actual MPG on any of my cars. None of them have had those displays to tell me nor have I ever filled it up to the max driven a certain amount of miles, filled up again and done some math.

I'm getting about 120km for €10 on the Punto right now. Roughly. That's all I know.

Your the same as me. I never filled the tank, don't have the money anyway. I get roughly 120 miles to €30.

    There's a plan it that!
I noticed that every time I buy anything for the garden, parasol, trampoline, chairs, benches, hammock, it rains because it angers the weather gods.
So maybe the opposite is true also.
If every single person put RainX on their windscreen, it might never rain again.
But even better, we cover the entire country in RainX!

Its some consolation. Money saved to fix the other yolk.

Decided to fix it then ?

Don't get too drawn in would be my advice unless it's a quick fix

I know what you mean. Not sure if its worth doing but Im going to fix it anyway. Get nothing for it as is.

I got a 1.6 147 with a really nice engine and box for 200. Goes like stink and only 80k on it. Everything i need there to sort the few knocks at the front end too. Will only need an oil change and timing belt. Get some cash for scrap in the end to pay for them. Shouldn't be hard to do as im not splitting the box off or anything....

About a week ago. It's a mk 1 2003 estate 1.8 tdci. 150k miles on it but a full main dealer service history from new so it should blow up anytime soon. Engine is lovely and smooth for a diesel. It's the older ford duratorq tdci not the dodgy peugeot unit.

Its the same core I think alright, but with all the electronics and common rail system it sounds and drives really nice.

Same engine as the work van, good power.

Grand if a little industrial but then again what diesel isn't

Would you not get sick of constantly going to the petrol station to buy smaller amounts of fuel. The first day I collected my Megane I filled the tank to the brim and I have only ever filled it to the brim everytime I've never stopped in with the intention of putting xx euro in it well with this car anyway I've done it before.
