This has been bugging me for ages, so I'm just going to come right out and say it. Does anyone think Ben Haenow looks like a young Peter Gabriel???

He actually does look a little bit like a young PG when he's relatively clean-shaven... :D:D;)

Jeez, we mention Peter Gabriel and then David Bowie dies. :(:(:(:(

(Coincidence, of course, but even so...)

The likes of Kanye West and David Cameron have paid tribute - but I don't think Simon has done so yet. Will be interesting when he does - if the Daily Mail is to be believed (which, of course, is very rarely), he said that if he could pick anyone as an XF judge, then he would pick Bowie.
"It’s no secret I’ve asked him, and he hasn’t said yes yet, but I’ll keep extending the invitation. Why Bowie? He’s a legend. He’s a great songwriter, he has massive influence on music today and he’s 100 per cent credible. I’m a fan. Not just of his music but of him, the man. He’s cool. Most of us aren’t. Bowie is."

It was a shock for me. I didn't even know he was sick. I will say one thing though. His good stuff was brilliant. But his bad stuff was atrocious. However, the good outweighed the bad. I would love to have seen him live. RIP DB. I will remember him fondly.........

Not surprising. No-one cares about the x factor anymore, they're just embarrassing themselves at this stage.

At this point I'm predicting a new 2 year deal for X Factor with ITV calling the shots and Simon getting a lot less money for either his judging or producing.

    I called it  http://entertainment.ie/tv/news/X-Factor-renewed-for-two-more-years/376745.htm

Dermot said last month that XF should take a year off.

I'm probably not the only one who agreed with him. Clearly, though, Simon and Mr Fincham didn't agree... :o  ;)

And with The Voice arriving on the third channel next year, the tabloids and gossip sites are inevitably reporting that Rita may return to that show. In other news... bears go to the toilet in the woods. :o:o  ;)

So Grimmy has left which is a pity i liked him as a judge. Caroline got the sack.Hopefully its only Olly hes much better on his own.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3453781/Simon-Cowell-AXES-presenter-Caroline-Flack-judge-Nick-Grimshaw-confirms-QUIT-X-Factor-just-one-year.html

My, Harvey and Louis Walsh's plans are coming together nicely!

You must be the only other person who thinks Olly was better than Caroline. She had loads of mess ups too and nobody really seemed to pay attention. I thought she was a lame and unlikeable presenter considering she's been doing it for yonks - something cold about her. I would prefer Dermot back to Olly but he might be a bit better without Flack.

NICK Grimshaw has been a 'dead man walking' on the X Factor for months after Simon Cowell decided he wanted to axe him following the first pre-recorded show.

Despite offering the radio DJ a big money contract to lure him to the judging panel in an attempt to attract younger viewers, Cowell, 56, turned against him almost immediately.

And he made his decision to sack him after the series opening aired back in August.

There's a weird smugness about Caroline. She wasn't great. However, Olly had that terrible mess up when he announced the wrong name during one of the eliminations. They both should have gotten the sack.

Won't be long before the auditions start up again and we can start guessing who will be in the hot seats.

Will Dermot and Louis be back ???

If Comrade Beeb says it, it must be right. ;)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/35628350/olly-murs-and-caroline-flack-are-leaving-the-x-factor-as-the-itv-shows-co-hosts

I can't say how likely it is that Dermot and Louis will return. But in Dermot's case, let's not forget three things: that he's currently hosting a very different Saturday night show on BBC1, that he said fairly recently that XF should take a year off, and also that he could be offered the Children in Need hosting job full-time following Terry Wogan's sad departure (he stood in for him last year).

Its not the judges or the presenters that are the main problem but of course they add to it.

The whole show is so obviously a set up. All the acts taken through were hand picked by the production team. There is no room for anybody with even a hint of personality. Far too much manipulation, editing and really bad editing at that. I get it that it is a production, but does it have to be so obviously so?

In respect of the judges, they should get rid of the mentoring part of it. The judges should be there to judge and try to help each contestant, not blindly(deafly?) say that that performance was great when everyone can hear it was a car crash. Of course have team of specialists on hand to help with the songs/dancing etc but why this need for the judges to be involved?

Stick to a theme for the week and give a listing of songs within that theme to choose from. A list of say 30 songs, across the spectrum, which the public can vote on for Sunday night/Monday and then the acts can choose that song or pick something remaining after the other acts choose theirs. Not this "Movie theme week" means that I once heard this song on the way to the cinema so it fits!

Despite endless video segments of the contestants we are never allowed to see what drives them. It's all just "My whole life has been about this", "I don't ever want a real job again", "I want so much to be famous". I'm not talking about the dead grandmother stuff, but if they are going to continue with these video segments at least get something out of it.

Song choices are bland and have been done countless times. It's all just painting by numbers and the audience has got bored of the sameness of it all.

Why did R&B do so well this year? because they were different, they brought an energy to it, they seemed to actually be enjoying it. Everyone knew they were at best limited, but some of the others you would swear this was the most difficult part of their lives. I don't want to hear that you are missing your friends and family more than anything. Fine, quit so, stop bloody moaning about it and take this oppurtunity you have been given. You don't like a song choice, say so and try something else.

And try to smile, at least pretend that you enjoy it. It's kinda hard for people to vote for you to win a contest that will potentially give you a pop-star career when the whole business of singing and dancing seems to depress you so much.

It's The Sun that's claiming that Dermot is coming back - and the other papers are just borrowing this story.

    Dermot himself has said nothing.

Sorry if I'm bursting any bubbles here - I'm just not swayed by the tabloids and other gossip media, and probably never will be. :o:o:o
