Went to do this loop walk in Knockmealdowns at weekend found the map missing at trail head car park and all signs vanished although the signs and map for blackwater way where still in place which overlaps this loop walk for a section over trailhead

Don't know who did this or why?

    The walk

Then I remembered another story a few months ago where another different walk about 10 kilometers from this one was taken out, all maps and signs cut down and destroyed by vandals
    face book post about it
SHOCKING NEWS - Ballyporeen be Alert
On 19th December, just a few short hours after the sign at Kilcaroon Bridge had been erected, some individuals decided, using a chain-saw, to cut down that sign and throw it into the nearby river. They then proceeded to follow the signposted walk and break out and take away every sign that had been placed along that route.
This is an approved national looped walk that had involved co-operation from Coillte, Tipperary County Council, South Tipperary Development Company, local landowners, Tús and RSS workers, and numerous volunteers, it is heart-breaking to see such a project destroyed by nothing short of mindless, vindictive, poorly educated traitors to their own area.

Is there someone going around south Tipp destroying walk signage?

Disturbing news re Ballyporeen - that doesn't sound like random vandalism.

Re Knocknaclugga, I think this was a Failte Ireland National Loop Walk but I don't see it listed currently on their website. Maybe possible that access for the walk was withdrawn by a local landowner and all the signage taken down? At a quick glance at the route, this seems unlikely, as it's mostly forest and rough mountain land.

You could enquire from Failte Ireland.

Some news from the local walks committee in the area, Knockmealdown Active can be accessed here https://www.facebook.com/knockmealdown?fref=nf

Apparently, there was an unauthorised 'fundraising' event there over Christmas gone, that involved c.250 quad bikes in the region of the Knockaclugga Loop. You may have seen the damage that a few quad bikes can do to soft ground, it appears that this large number of machines so badly damaged the route, that the walk signage had to be taken down. Investigations are underway.

    Thanks for that

There's one sketch at the bottom of mountain where there is no path whatsoever just markers across the bog for a klick or so
its very muddy there and a bit churned you really have to watch where your stepping. I saw a few vehicle tracks alright did think much at time i assumed that the mud is result of farmers or coillte equipment + livestock as there is multiple forest roads leading to area. The forest roads have no barriers on them that you would usually see.

I walked it last year and it was also very muddy then too saw a 4X4 parked up there right next to bog.
no a lot of footfall on that walk anyway as far as i can see the east side of Knockmealdowns is much busier.
