Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Reckless challenge and dangerous it's red

I'd give that a yellow at a push, in no way was it dangerous, good amount of simulation from Oscar.

Honestly lads. That was more a red card for Oscar than Ibra. He was the one that went in with his leg fully extended.

Ibra actually tried to pull out and they both lunged in. Oscar just got there slightly ahead.

    Joke decision.

    Unbelievable.

Can't wait to hear Jose after this.

Great to see such strong refereeing there to send off Zlatan, clear red.

It was the reaction from Chelsea players that sealed it if the rolls from Oscar weren't enough

It says harsh but the ref had the red or before players even approached him.

    PSG look rattled

Poor decision - no sportsmanship from Chelsea either, pure gamesmanship.
They will say that they are just being being professional, but an Oscar for Oscar clearly, or has either leg come off?

Di Maria and Young and apparently every player on the United team could learn a thing or two from that, see opportunity to do your opponents best player, sell the broken leg convincingly, get him sent off. Hop up and strut away like a boss.

    Hope they are watching

Has to be the worst red card I ever seen. Outrageous decision.

Agreed. Will he still be moaning about refereeing decisions at FT tonight?

Chelsea players shut up quick when the red card appeared. Ludicrous decision. Not 2 footed. No studs.

Times like that you'd love to see a manager being able to throw in a flag to challenge it, a la NFL.

Not really when the ref had the red out instantly.

Ref's fall for that one all the time unfortunately. A player pretending he's hurt when he knows he's made a bad tackle.

    Silly Oscar.

Worse than the Markovic one in the group stages, even.

Never a red. Reactions of the players made the refs mind up.

The reaction from Terry was like he just caught his wife in bed with Zlatan.

Ibra very clearly pulled out of that tackle. Bends his leg away from Oscar. Can never be a red card.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

On replay Ibra is quite lucky there, the way Oscar came in if Ibra hadnt tried to pull out Oscar could have done serious damage to him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,281 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Awful, awful, awful refereeing, he had that red out during Joses presser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

John Terry actually kicked Oscar in the head in his eagerness to get the ref to send Ibra off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 369 ✭✭microsim

    Oscar recovered well.

Its decisions like this that can turn people off the game.

Too many bad decisions are affecting big games. There wasn't great malice from either player and now losing Zlatan is going to ruin the gane.

When will football use video evidence?

Horrible to see players crowding around a ref like that.

I think it was actually the shocking tackle that got him sent off. It's refreshing to see refs make strong decisions like this, English referees could learn a thing or two!

It was a foul, he slid in for the ball and didn't win it, that's it though, no dangerous tackle, no studs up, no stamping motion, nothing dangerous about it.

If that is a red card then ever single tackle where one player doesn't win the ball but gets the man is a red card, every single one.

Late, yes; reckless (and "dangerous"), no. Can't see how on earth you this that is reckless and dangerous, you're the only one here backing the yellow card. Even the Chelsea fans are having a laugh at it.

I think the combined blood curdling screams from Oscar and Terry did for the ref there.
