Did they explain the reasoning behind batting first?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

    70/0 in 11

You never know with Pakistan but it's looking like its bye bye Ireland if they don't strike big in the next 5 overs

Did they explain the reasoning behind batting first?

Pakistan are ropey chasers and the pitch is good

Did they explain the reasoning behind batting first?

We'd have been chasing something massive plus Pak suck at chasing but we cant capitalize.

    Oh god Kevins bowling now

Did they explain the reasoning behind batting first?

No doubt worried about a chase under the lights against Pakistan's quicks

Batting first the right decision but obviously 70-80 shirt of a winning total

Commentary on ICC app saying that KOB "has been expensive this World Cup but is still Ireland's leading wicket taker in ODIs." Where is that nowwww?

He has 70 odd wickets. Posters on here been extremely disrespectful to him but he's always done a job for us bowling even though he is a part time bowler. The new way the game is played and the higher standard batsmen has done him no favours at this world cup though

Just me or have these games where we bowled second just made you really annoyed at Rankin?? Guy could've been here but he's doing nothing instead

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

    Dropped!!!

Can't blame him for wanting to play at the highest level. Pity it hasn't worked out for him so far.

Looks like the wheels are coming off our wagon. Pity no one else could really build a good innings with Porterfield. But our bowling anyway is a bit toothless.

We've done well though overall and ridden our luck a bit - those were close wins against UAE and ZIM and could have gone the other way.

More disrespect. You are really on the search for someone to scapegoat. Who is it? Thompson? KOB? Rankin? Wilson?

Poor form imo, these guys are doing their best with varied limited abilities and given us a great world cup here and in the past few years

Why wasn't Sarfraz playing in the first matches.

A relax mate, I'm not trying to scapegoat anyone, just pointing out that although Wilson is a decent keeper Niall is more reliable behind the stumps.

That was a pretty regulation looking catch

Wanted to have Younis "average of 31 in ODI cricket" Khan and Harris in the side. Mental call, but he is back now, so all worked out well in the end.

After watching Pakistan being thrashed by Ind and WI I thought Ireland had a real chance of making the last 8 but they messed it up big time against UAE and not kicking on today when 300 looked on at one stage......

This match still not over by any means but typical of a Pakistani team that they are rubbish at first but when they get it together that can beat anybody....

Australia will be secretly hoping for an Irish win today!!

Maybe instead of one v one tests they could make a sort of Lions setup with representative players from Europe, sanzar, the sub continent etc. That way these guys could play test cricket at the highest level and still play ODI cricket for their own countries.

True but realistically he's not going to play tests again

Not just that though, Warwickshire his county were throwing strops that he was coming back injured and tired after playing for Ireland, so it was understandable he walked away. I know playing for his country should be everything, but bills need to be paid, and his family needed to be provided for.

Warwickshire are a quality county,so you could understand him now wanting to ruin that.

Nobody is slagging Taylor for retiring for Zimbabwe for the financial security of Notts, it was a somewhat similar scenario for Rankin.

re Morgan and Rankin it's a pity the rules require them to declare in every format for England, rather than letting them play test for England but odi/20-20 only for Ireland, until we qualify for tests. It's mental imo having guys who have no hope of getting back into the test squad playing odi for England
