What's the best way to store home-made scones?
I made a batch today and when they were cold, I put them into plastic tubs.
Now the scones are soft and chewy, instead of crisp on the outside.
But surely if I had left them uncovered, they'd have gone stale?!

A tin box is the job, but really nothing will keep them crisp on the outside, they'll always soften a bit. Refreshing them in the oven for a few minutes works well.

Scones usually freeze quite well, in a plastic bag. Take them out the night before and then pop into the oven for a few mins!

My mother used to make enormous batches and freeze some.

Freezing the dough is probably a good option, otherwise wrapped at room temperature.
