Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anybody watched, watching or plan to watch this HBO documentary?

Absolutely fascinating, just finished the finale there. It's in 6 parts. Surprised no discussion has been made yet. Don't research beforehand (or umm, even click on current headlines relating to Robert Durst) so you won't be somewhat spoiled.

It's often compared to Serial but I kinda don't agree beside the true crime and pseudo-investigative journalism angle. I find Durst more like a mix of Psycho and Steve Carrell's character in Foxcatcher (who's a real person I think as well).

this is the one that's "in the news" at the moment? might get stuck into it tonight, haven't read much about the case but have seen the headlines so probably spoils it somewhat.

You're probably aware of this one, but since you also mentioned Serial have you ever seen The Staircase?

That's the one I've always kept in the 'watch later' category, but just found out it's gone on youtube. Will seek it out now :)

Just binged on all 6 episodes today on my day off.

What an breathtaking story. Could not recommend it enough. I don't want to give any thoughts on the story so not to ruin it. It's a must see though

(The same director done "Capturing the Freidmans" which was another jaw dropping documentary)

Yeah, that's one factor that made me interested in the documentary before actually seeing it. That was an engrossing film. I do have reservations though about Jarecki and Jesse Friedman, especially the stuff they left out. (See the Critique on youtube.)

I hope that doesn't apply to The Jinx this time, although in fairness, Durst's situation is a bit more straightforward. I mean, he literally
    dismembered a body!!
But still, as you might have heard, people are
now questioning the timeline of the arrest and the 2nd interview and how it's misrepresented in the final episode.
    And Jarecki
stopped talking to the media just right after the finale

Can't recommend this enough to people! A thoroughly gripping, shocking and enjoyable piece of television.

Have seen some debate of the 'ethics' of the documentary makers which leads to a wider discussion on what documentary making is.

Nonetheless, this held my attention from start to finish every episode unlike most of what's out there.

Highly recommended! I'd also suggest that if you don't know much about the story of Robert Durst, that you avoid reading anything in the media and watch this in it's entirety first.

Just finished watching the finale of The Jinx. Absolutely gripping from start to finish. It may well have been edited for dramatic effect, but I don't see how it could have changed the overall story significantly.

As stated by another poster if you have never heard of Robert Durst don't google him until you've watched the all of the series.

Definitely worth watching, knew the story behind it but still found it gripping and well put together

Yeah a really good series. Seen a previous one-off docu about this case so this 6 parter, and how it ended, was really fascinating.

I guess there might have been an issue as to whether he was possibly going a bit senile with the talking to himself etc by the end of the series.

Saw this over the past 2 evenings. Simply fascinating. A glimpse into the mind of a psycho. He wants to be caught and not caught at the same time
