Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Messi has been incredible. Half time whistle was good for us, there would have been a red card if it didn't come. Need to come flying out of the blocks in the second half.

Also, can't stand Neymar, goes down like he's been shot at every opportunity.

Don't think efb meant arsenal are closest to Barca in terms of quality, id imagine he was referring to similarity in style of play.

Either way, you guys are easily amused.

Arsennalona couldn't get past Monaco, but are the EPL's verision of Barca?

You don't pull on the blaugrana shirt unless you are a special talent, you don't take the pitch at the Camp Nou on a big European night without being a very special talent but in a team of very special talents it is one who stands head and shoulders above all others, the diminutive Argentine, Lionel Messi. He's beyond words, he's beyond question or debate, he transcends time, he stands alone as the icon of his generation.

It is fitting that overlooking it all tonight is Pep Guardiola, the great coach watching over the great player who represents his beloved Barcelona.

It's been a quite magnificent 45 minutes from Barcelona.

I thought it was pretty clear what he meant alright, but people choose to interpret it so that it sounds like he's drawing a comparison in the quality of the sides. Bit sad really.

It was a tackle from behind, simple as. Referee's ping those tackles 9 times out of 10
But it was still a good tackle. Textbook as I said.

Where am I defending simulation? He fouled the player
The fact is that it was a perfectly timed tackle, and the player tackled happened to be cleared out as you say, and so it's a foul and yellow according to you. Apply that logic to all good and fair tackles where the player tackled happens to fall to the ground as a result of the physical nature of the tackle and you'll be essentially eliminating tackling.

As said, it's a physical game, sometimes you're going to get knocked to the floor, even as a result of a perfectly fair and well time challenge.

Toure will pick up his quarter of a million, no bother to him. Not sure he even made a tackle,
touched the ball or even tracked back for that first half.
How can he do that and not be embarrassed.
Should not appear for second half.

No coach teaches players to tackle from behind because you get what Silva did, a card and a free against you. Calling it textbook is laughable

A tackle from behind is textbook alright. A textbook yellow.

In some ways, it doesn't change City's task. They needed 2 goals before Barca scored.....they still need 2 goals.

But it wasn't afters! Silva slid through the ball and Messi fell down as a result of the ball being dislodged from his possession. There was no afters! Simply physics! David Silva isn't even exactly the kind of guy to engage in afters either!

City are tbh. Most deadly attacking team whilst very sluggish at the back at times. At times untouchable and at times very average. Also got the greatest individual talents
