Major EV incentive removed from 1st April?

Power N.I, with 500,000 customers in Northern Ireland,remove EV incentive effective 1st April.
Along with an announcement on march 11th, of reduced pricing, the company write that 'The following off peak preserved tariffs are no longer available to join.
Prices are for the information of customers already on these tariffs".

Did they have a reduced night rate specifically for EV users?

No,anyone could have signed up for economy 7,meaning that the electricity for the whole house was being charged about half price throughout the night. This represents a big incentive if you are charging an EV at 32Amps for some hours, sadly if you buy an EV after April, new customers will not avail of this incentive anymore. We may soon have to pay for the CPs in the street, and with petrol now being much cheaper,the infrastructure meltdown , the future is in question.

I think making the street charging paid is a plus & has to happen eventually.
Petrol will increase in price again.
Any reason why economy 7 is being dropped?

Surely in NI there are night rate electricity prices ?

I got my night meter installed last Friday.

Agreed on CP charging,particularly with a reduction of 10% in NIE staffing,I got the feeling at meetings with them present ,that the whole EV thing was just a pain and there was nothing in it for them until charging commenced. Timing though at present ,with oil prices lower may not be an argument for switching from Ice just now? Pity that the UK subsidy on Solar has also been reduced.
The opening post is a direct post from Power NI letter reference 088/0821540457,headed "Price cut ......as we promised. The removal of economy 7 from new customers,however is on page 2 , in somewhat smaller letters.
I looked up their web page on the reduction and the following is again a direct quote.
"Economy 7 Day rate,(you pay slightly more than normal customers), my insert.continues which is used by 4% of homes will then come down by 5%change in night rate."
Nowhere did I notice the sentence included in the snail mail "The following off peak preserved tariffsare no longer available to join."

Does this just not mean that you are not automatically signed up to economy 7 when you buy and EV? You can still switch yourself..

I don't see your point? I know you have had lots and lots of bad experiences but I doubt the end of EVs in Northern Ireland is near..

I hope not,but one of the MLAs at Stormont suggested the project be ended as a number of CPs had never been used,(Irish News article)
On the economy 7 deal,you have to find out the details for yourself,when I tried to ask the Lady at NIE,she asked "Electric What?",and after Power NI surveyed the site for a home CP,I asked to see the unit they were coming back to install,only to find it had the wrong plug,at which point he asked if he could take a picture of the car socket!
Ecar NI refuse to assist in suggesting an economy 7 supply,quoting the fact that they are a government body, but when I pointed out that the suggest suppliers of home CPs on their web page I got no reply.
I see on the myrenaultzoe.com site, the figure quoted for Economy 7 night time price is 4p/kwh, I pay 8p and over 17p during the day. Its slightly annoying that when the meter switches GMT, we could do with a 9am finish in winter and 8am in summer instead of the other way round.
