I have a 2005 renault laguna & the drivers side window wouldnt go back up today. I was thinking it was just a problem with the motor/regulator.

Is this an easy diy fix? Has anyone had any experience with this?

First thing to do is put your ear to the door and listen for any movement/crinkling noises. Unlike the other Renaults, the Lagunas fare quite well with door wiring and it's usually just the motor that gives out on them (rarely the switch, too.)

They're a cable on rails design and 9 times out of 10, the plastic cable reel disintegrates, and the cable is destroyed by the powerful motor.
Repair kits are available, they're an abhorrent pain to assemble, fit differently to the genuine units and even the better, pre-assembled ones last about five months... Your only option is genuine or 2nd hand genuine.

If theres no sound its the motor itself or the switch that gives out. (worth checking the fuse didn't blow, just in case...) This can be the actually motor or the electronic control "black box" that manages it (unless you don't have auto/one touch windows, in which case the box doesn't exist). Thats an easier fix, its held on at the end with a T-10 (or T-8, very small) Torx screw and will pull off with a little difficulty after. It can be done without removing the motor and rail assemblies on some Lagunas if you're very good and patient at fiddly things. Otherwise the whole lot has to come out and be repaired/replaced as necessary.

In all scenarios, bar switch, door card removal is necessary and care to the window goes without saying. The card is screwed, clipped and bonded to the door frame making for a well stuck on part. The motor is seperate to the two (also seperate) rails and the whole lot is connected via bowden cables so its quite an unwieldy thing to manoeuvre about. It's fiddly and only people who've done an awful lot can do them quickly. Renault mechs can replace the unit in little over 20 minutes, assuming nothing goes pear shaped. Nearly all mechanics should do it in under an hour and anyone else would honestly want to put two hours aside, just to take their time at it and be sure it's done well.
