    Is the transition from esb trained electrician to Commercial industrial construction hard.have many done this?

    No simple answer, it depends of many factors.
    The work an industrial electrician does can be very different from one company to another. The ability of ESB electricians and the experience that they have can be very different too.

    I did this, well, did the first 2 years of my apprenticeship with ESB Networks and the final 2 with an electrical contractor in the industrial sector, it really depends on what sections you worked in during your time with the ESB.

    If you spent time in HV stations or got to do any new cubicles you'd have a good idea of containment, cable runs, and putting cables away in panels. However, if you spent 4 years hanging out of poles and pylons you might take a little while longer to get up to speed on a commercial job.
