Hi all I'm doing my Leaving Cert this year and I'm interested in doing the Business & Management course in Maynooth next year. I don't see much info about it on this forum. Just wondering can anyone provide some info on this course, what it involves etc.

I'm currently in first year at the moment. What exactly do you want to know about it?

Hi thelad95, the main thing was that the prospectus mentions that you can specialise in your final year. What are the possible areas to specialise in? Also I'd just like to know about the course in general - assignments, weekly hours and how you find the course overall? Thanks

I'm only in first year at the moment so the amount I can tell you is limited. Afaik, there's a new syllabus coming into the college across the board next year so you're experience might be a bit different to mine but you will be doing a lot of the same modules.

First year is really really basic. If you did Leaving Cert business or economics like I did, you're going to be bored for a lot of it if I'm being honest.

You can see the various different modules available to choose in each year on this link

    http://apps.maynoothuniversity.ie/courses/?TARGET=QS&MODE=VIEW&TARGET_SOURCE=QUALIFICATION&QUALIFICATION_CODE=BUS

The amount of lecture hours in both semesters is 12 but you will have extra tutorials and group work hours on top of this. You will be kept going with assignments but most of them in first year are pretty doable if you put a bit of effort into them. They seem to love group work up here as well so if that appeals to you, then you'll like this course.

Overall, first year is really easy but you will find that with a lot of courses. I'd recommend comparing the modules of various courses you're interested in and see what appeals to you the most. Bear in mind, that courses do change pretty much every year so the choice of modules available to choose in final year will probably have changed by the time you're in college.
