Am I the only one who hates o'connors brogue? It is nearly as bad as the Cavan brogue

Brendan is from Cork, and so speaks in a Cork accent. Cavan natives generally
speak with a Cavan accent. No doubt you yourself speak in the accent of your region. Like it or not, that's how it is.

Agreed. I much prefer people to speak with their own accent, no matter where from. It really grates on me, watching the news for example, people interviewed, and they have that peculiar put on half American sounding accent, complete with upward inflection at the end of every sentence. It's very prevalent among certain age groups.

You don't have to put on an American accent when speaking proper, I know a culchie from Northern Ireland who is a presenter now and his accent gradually developed into a well spoken accent for television and radio, o'connor says every sentence as if he is asking a question.
Sometimes you should change your brogue a bit just like you do when you are abroad

A bit latey, but for those interested Brendan is sitting in for John Murray all this week on his RTE Radio 1 show.
